Hi I'm Cassidy

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, also known as "Sin City". I am a student at Brigham Young University preparing to go on a mission.

About Me

I love music. I love the power that music has to connect individuals and to invoke emotion. I spent all of high school participating in choir performance and musicals. I love the arts! I am currently studying Early Childhood Education at Brigham Young University. I have always lived in the West, but the snow of Utah does not go over well with my Las Vegas blood. I love my family and friends. I am very social and constantly want to be doing something with people. I love children and can not wait to be a teacher! I plan to teach 2nd grade because I remember that being my favorite year of Elementary School. I love the beach! My family and I have gone to Newport Beach, California every year and it is my favorite tradition. The ocean is beautiful. I am a big sports fan. I don't have very many teams that I have strong opinions about, but I just have a love for the game. I feel a full range of emotion during football games, especially BYU games. I am currently waiting anxiously for my mission call to come in the mail!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the LDS church. It is all that I have ever known, and for most of my life I never questioned that. As I got older though, I knew that true conversion would have to be an individual process. I could not rely on the testimonies of my parents or leaders forever. I took the time to learn if the church was true for myself. I read the Book of Mormon, I asked questions, I prayed, and I attended church. As I did these things and sincerely sought the answer from God, my testimony grew. He answered my prayers and I have not doubted it since. I know that these steps seem simple. I know it is not the fanciest conversion story, but it is still a true conversion story. Finding the truth and joy of the gospel is an individual journey and a process. You can not know it is true for yourself unless you read the scriptures and pray about it on your own. This is what I am going on my mission to share with others: the simple joys and truths of the gospel.

How I live my faith

As a young adult and a student at BYU, I am blessed to be surrounded by members of the church everyday. I love going to school here and being able to learn new things about the gospel every time I go to class. There is always something new to learn. In my ward, I have been lucky enough to have many callings that allowed me to come closer to my Savior. My favorite thing to do is teach lessons (that's my future teacher talking!) My most recent calling had to do with doing Family History. I was in charge of helping get others to participate in completing their own family history. This calling was so amazing because I learned new things about myself and my family. I learned about the generations before me and where I came from. Family history has impacted my life in great ways. I also love participating with the women in the church. There is an organization set in place to create a bond between the women. It gives us somewhere to go and someone to turn to when we are struggling. There is a sisterhood there that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I am living my faith right now as I prepare to receive my mission call and serve the Lord for 18 months of my life. I love this gospel and the joy it has brought to my life. I want to share that joy and show Christ that faith by serving him when he has asked me to.
