Hi I'm Tristan

I grew up near Chicago IL. I've learned to play 6 instruments and I've coached cricket. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old. I am the oldest of 6 children. We all live in a very small place, and as such, are used to a lot of crazy things that most people may not be. I graduated high school, and will soon serve a mission for 24 months. I love music, sports, and video games. I did few things during my school years, including drama, band, choir, and soccer. I also gave most of those things up to help with my family responsibilities. I have come to find that this church has been one of the best things in my life, and I know that anyone can benefit from what it offers.

Why I am a Mormon

I went through a lot of struggles in the past that led me to this church early in my life. I was raised in it, but I didn't know i was right until I was 9 or so. During this time I was very active. Once middle school and high school hit, I began to have increased issues, that led me to leave my faith to fix my problems, which only made more issues, and I soon became overwhelmed. During these dark times I slowly progressed backwards, losing who I was before. I could have stayed in this state for a much longer time than I did, if it wasn't for a miracle. In the early hours of the morning, I woke up with a pain in my chest. I have asthma, and I knew that's what this was. I took the proper medication, and it has no effect... I then doubled the amount and waited for the medicine to work. It never did, and I was slowly suffocating. Every hard breath only gave me a short glimpse of air, but gave me an immense amount of pain. My thoughts became clouded and I didn't know what to do. During this exact moment, a thought came to me. "Father's Blessing." For those who may not know, we believe that worthy men are able to hold the Melchizedek Priesthood. (The power to act in God's name and use His power here on Earth.) My father has this gift, and was worthy to use it at this time. Hearing my pain, he came to my side and fulfilled my request, to lay his hands on my head, and give me a blessing. He opened the blessing, and then blessed me with the ability to regain my breath. He repeated the latter part in a couple ways, but after only a minute, it was like everything had been fine the whole time. Now, not every blessing works like this. But, I would not be alive if it wasn't for this Priesthood. I am now privileged to hold that same Priesthood my father has. I am a Mormon, because if this church was fake and didn't have any power, I would be dead. Simple as that.

How I live my faith

I try my best to show what I believe in through who I am. I think, all the time. This has allowed me to contemplate the teachings of this church, and I personally think that it holds many things, that other churches seem to miss. I mean in no way that others are completely wrong, but I find here a completeness and answers I honestly understand. Along with these answers comes a confirmation. I get a feeling that is overwhelming. It makes me feel very passionate and bold about what I have been learning about, and I cannot deny it's validity. These type of confirmations hold and keep my faith, and I know if anyone is able to feel this, and strive to keep it, they will come to know this church has undeniable truth.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Tristan
We are called Mormons, because we believe in the Book of Mormon. We believe this book is another witness of Jesus Christ, and I know that by reading it, you will come closer to Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
