Hi I'm Melaine!

I love the outdoors. I am a violinist. I love to travel. I am the oldest in my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student at BYU and I love meeting new people everyday. I was a violin performance major my first year and now I am not and am trying to decide on a different major. I still love playing my violin in church, at talent shows, with friends, and in ensembles. I absolutely love the outdoors. Playing sports is one of my favorite things to do with friends, especially soccer, lacrosse, and frisbee. Hiking in my hometown in Colorado is something I really enjoy. I have also been on some incredible hikes all around the world. I have traveled around Europe and seen some of South America and Mexico and the United States. My dad and I went on a medical mission in Peru a few years ago and it was an incredible experience. I love serving other people and being with younger kids. Last year I worked as a counselor at a girls camp run by our church and it was one of my most cherished experiences to teach 12 and 13 year old girls about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to have fun with them doing ropes courses, rappelling, dining hall games, singing all the time, devotionals, and crafts. I love sharing happiness and enthusiasm for life with others.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have always had confidence that God loves me and I have learned and continue to learn how to put my trust in Him. Jesus Christ gave up His life and suffered the sins of the world for all who lived and would yet live upon the earth. Without His sacrifice, we would not have the chance to live with our Father in Heaven again. I am beyond grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am Mormon because I know that the teachings of our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are true and have blessed my life for good. I know that being obedient to God's commandments makes us happy and pleases Him. I believe that He knows us individually and that He loves us more that we can comprehend. I know that God called a prophet to lead our church and I know that the prophet's words are of God because I have felt it when he speaks. I know Jesus is the Living Christ and that He loves all of us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the teachings of the prophets and always striving to do God's will. One of my favorite life mottos for myself has been "Be beautiful to Him." The person I want to be beautiful to is my Father in Heaven because pleasing Him gives me true joy. I try and maintain the best relationship with my Father in Heaven by praying to Him everyday and reading His words in the scriptures. I love the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. It has so much influence in guiding my life and helping me invite the Spirit into my life. I read the Book of Mormon everyday and I pray to God everyday in gratitude for everything I've been blessed with and in need of guidance and help. The people I go to church with are incredible people that stand as great examples to me. I have had several callings including being a teacher and meeting coordinator. These callings have helped me grow spiritually and given me opportunities to participate in and contribute to the church and it's goals in strengthening and uplifting each other and coming together to testify of Christ.
