Hi I'm Aspen

I'm a Mormon, an avid skier, and long-distance runner from the mountains of Colorado and Utah.

About Me

I was born and grew up in the mountains of Colorado. My dad taught me to ski from a very young age. I especially love anything that involves the outdoors, including hiking and climbing mountains. In high school, I joined the cross country team and now have a love of long-distance running (my favorite distance is half-marathons). I moved to Utah before my junior year of high school which was a challenge, but brought many blessings with it. I am currently undecided on my major in college, but my best subject is math. I also love to read a good book!

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of this church because of the hope and comfort this gospel brings. This world is filled with so much darkness, but through living the gospel I have found peace. Both of my parents are members of the church and I was blessed to have been taught the gospel from a young age. I was baptized at age 8 and it was such a beautiful day. Since then, my understanding and testimony of this gospel has continued to increase greatly through many different experiences. One of the first real moments of being converted to the gospel started when I was around age 13. At this time, I had never really read the scriptures for myself. I was prompted by the Spirit to start reading my scriptures. Since then, it has become a daily habit and the scriptures have been a great source as I have learned from them (which has increased my knowledge and testimony). At age 15, I was blessed to go on a pioneer trek which involved reenacting what the pioneers had to do when they crossed the plains. The spirit I feel there was so great and powerful. It was beautiful to connect with those of the gospel who lived beforehand. It truly testified of God's love for His children. One of my greatest moments in the gospel was when I received a comforting prompting to serve a mission and be able to spread this wonderful gospel to others seeking peace. This gospel is my true source of comfort. Through my many experiences, I have come to know that this church is the Lord's true church on Earth. I know that this gospel was restored through revelation through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon through revelation and that the Book of Mormon is true (something I have learned as I have studied this amazing book). I know that there are living prophets and apostles today on the earth. I know that families are sealed for time and all eternity in temples. I know this gospel brings peace in a world of darkness.

How I live my faith

I love this gospel. I especially love the peace I can find from scripture study and prayer. I have been blessed to be able to serve in the Church with some leadership callings over young women and as a camp leader at the annual Girl's Camp. Once in college, I was blessed to be able to be a supervisor for visiting teaching (which is where the women are able to watch over and care for the others). I have loved becoming friends with other members and participating in a variety of activities ranging from community service to Christmas potlucks to youth activities. I love the community and friends I find at church. This was especially helpful when I moved before my junior year of high school and was able to make friends in the church right away.
