Hi I'm Melissa

I'm from the bay area in California. I'm a movie enthusiast. I'm a philosophy major. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up about an hour away from San Francisco, so I love spending time at overcast beaches. I'm studying philosophy at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT and I love being able to push the boundaries of thought and explore human rights. My favorite hobbies include curling up to a good movie and spending time with my family, which includes my parents and my older brother. I am leaving to serve a mission in Brazil for 18 months!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this gospel is the only way I have been able to find peace, comfort and hope in this life. The world offers alternatives to these eternal principles through temporary pleasures, but many of these pleasures eventually end up resulting in pain and regrets. I have experienced the healing power of Jesus Christ and I know that He can not only heal our afflictions but that He can offer pure and eternal happiness. I am a part of this church because He has brought me hope in times of despair. He has brought me comfort when I've felt pain and peace when I thought it was unobtainable. I love that this church teaches that we are all one in the same. We all deserve peace and joy. We all deserve hope. We all deserve eternal families. And these blessings are available to everyone because of Him, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in church meetings each Sunday and I love that these weekly meetings help me continuously center my life on Jesus Christ. Even though life gets busy with petty tasks, I find that life is easier to prioritize when I put things like reading my scriptures and praying first. I believe in viewing others without judgment or condescension, we are all children of God. I have found that by implementing this mindset in my life, that it is much easier to have love and patience for others, no matter how different we are.
