Hi I'm Addison

I grew up in small town Wyoming. I love Harry Potter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family consists of my mom and five children, 4 girls and 1 boy. We moved to a very small town in Wyoming not long after my parents separated. When I was a teenager I was section leader of our high school drumline and marching band season was the highlight of my year. After graduating I went to college at the University of Wyoming. I love being goofy and spending time with friends and family. Many say I am the worst dancer you will ever meet, but I think I'm improving :) I have recently received a call to serve a mission in Dallas Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

I can confidently share that my life hasn't always been easy, whose has? When my parents separated my mom struggled for a really long time to get back on her feet and as a child that affected me. Through every hardship or trial I have faced in my life I have always been able to keep a divine perspective. Our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ love us more than we can possibly comprehend. Christ died for us, me, so that I could someday return to Him. I know that there is a plan for me. Christ knows us perfectly and sees our potential. I can feel Him rooting for me when I go through trials and I can hear Him whisper to me to hold on a little longer. Christ is always by my side and with that knowledge I can fight the toughest battles and climb the highest mountains. I find strength in my Savior and love in His gospel. It is not hard for me to see why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because in being so I am strengthened.

How I live my faith

The gospel has always been a very strong influence in my life. I try everyday to be the best person I can be and to contribute to the world around me. I believe that saying hi to someone on the street or offering to help them carry in groceries makes a difference, I believe in the small things. I love to participate in church activities where I can see friendly faces and be surrounded by people that share the same values. I try to live my life the way that the Savior lived His. Through His example I am able to determine the person I would like to be and try to get a bit closer each day. I love, I serve, and I share with those around me.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

Addison
On every LDS temple you will see the words "Holiness to the Lord, House of the Lord". We believe that these temples provide a sacred place in which the Lord's spirit can dwell. Because of this belief we all must prepare ourselves before entering into His holy house. In other words our lives and our beliefs must match His desires for us. The scriptures often quote "No unclean thing can dwell with God". Preparing to enter the temple is in a sense preparing to meet God. For this reason only members of the LDS church, who follow the standards given by modern day prophets, are permitted to enter into the house of the Lord. Inside the temple we perform sacred ordinances for ourselves and for those who have died without the opportunity to go to the temple themselves. Some of these ordinances include sealing a family to be together forever and being baptized for those who have died. The temple is not a secretive place, but a sacred one wherein we can communicate with our Heavenly Father and feel of His Holy Spirit. Show more Show less
