Hi I'm Josh

I'm interested in engineering. I'm an athlete. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. I was captain of the wrestling team which went on to win a sixth consecutive Utah State Championship. I love the outdoors and things like mountain biking, backpacking, canoeing, etc. I'm interested in chemistry, math, and engineering. I've been called to serve a full time mission for the LDS Church in Iquitos Peru. I plan to start college when I return.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church. I know Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Following Him is the only way we can receive forgiveness for our sins and find true happiness. The Book of Mormon is true. It testifies of Christ and His Atonement. Those who read it and ask God in sincere prayer if it is true will come to find a knowledge of its truth also. Joseph Smith is a true prophet who translated the Book of Mormon and through him the Lord restored His Gospel on the earth.

How I live my faith

I go to church each week on Sunday and attend each of my classes. On occasion I am asked to teach a lesson and I will usually accept. I would normally teach the youth but I do not have an official calling. I typically go home-teaching with my dad and we try to take turns teaching the lessons. I don't usually organize events but I do participate in as much as I can.

What is the First Vision?

Josh
Joseph Smith was a boy living in the eastern United States who was not sure which church to join. He decided to turn to the scriptures and read James 1:5. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. The young Joseph decided that if anyone needed wisdom from God, he did. One day in the spring of 1820, Joseph went to a grove of trees near his home to pray. As he started to pray about which church was the true church, "two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” These two personages were God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They taught Joseph that none of the churches were true because the church that Christ had organized on the earth had been lost over time. The first vision marked the beginning of the Restoration the church of Jesus Christ to the earth. We can read more about this experience in 'Joseph Smith's History' chapter 1 verses 8-17.
