Hi I'm Chase Mooney

I've grown up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I've lived here my whole life. I will be serving in the Bogota, Colombia North mission.

About Me

I love to play soccer and be around all sports in general. I enjoy spending my time with my friends and being outdoors as well. I look forward to serving in Colombia, Bogota for 2 years on my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

The ultimate reason that I've chosen to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints is because I know that it brings true happiness to my life. Growing up a member I often found that while I believed in what I was taught, I sometimes didn't care to really understand what I believed in. And because of this I feel that growing up I never really had a testimony, and that I just believed in some of the things I was taught, and I had many doubts. However, I have had many family members and friends become inactive in the church, and many members of my family are also non-members as well. Because of this I have seen what a difference that this church brings to all of its members lives. I was lucky to have good friends in my life that had strong testimonies of the church growing up, even at a young age. This really helped influence me in choosing to attend church regularly and strive to find a testimony for myself, this eventually lead to me choosing to serve a mission as well. As time passed, I never really felt like I had a light bulb moment that gave me my testimony that I have today, but I found that the more I did what I knew was right, which was taught by this church, the more I felt true happiness, and felt that I had a purpose in life. Today I know that I, myself, have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me personally that The Book of Mormon is true, and I know that the church was restored by our prophet Joseph Smith. I know that God loves all of his children, and he wants us to come unto Christ. I know that my mission was called of God, and that people in Colombia need to hear my testimony and hear the words of this church spoken through my mouth so they can know the truth for themselves. I know that at times I have had, and will continue to have doubts, but I also know that if I pray and seek out answers from the scriptures with a sincere heart, I will receive the answers that I need to hear, and I can learn the truth of all things through God.

How I live my faith

I used to participate in my local scout troops, and that really taught me the importance of service and self-reliance. Also, I am a worthy Priesthood holder, which means I get to participate in ordinances such as the sacrament at my church. Throughout my life there were a couple of times where I was given leadership roles which required that I would help plan out certain group activities for the church with a group of others that were also in charge.
