Hi I'm Ana Rokes

I was born and raised in a small town in California. In headed to New York on a signing mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student in my second year of college. I am going on a mission. My language will be American Sign Language. I have been signing all my life because my mother is Deaf. I am still searching for what major I will pursue for my education. I also speak Spanish. My dad went to Mexico for his mission, so he put me and my siblings in a dual immersion school, starting at kindergarten.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I don't think I had a specific moment that gave me my testimony, but it slowly grew, like building a fire. My favorite part of this church is that it is about finding truths for yourself. We encourage learning as much as possible and that truth is truth. What I mean by that is that everything fits together. You go to school as a kid and learn about the beginning of the world and the "Big Bang". It sounds like a different story than what you learn in church, but I think they fit together quite well. It's things like this that you can pray about, ask the Lord what is true and find out for yourself.

How I live my faith

I am currently a secretary in Primary, where we teach the kids while the adults and youth go to their own Sunday meetings. While teaching children the gospel, you really learn to simplify and explain better the gospel. I believe this will help me a lot during my mission to better explain some of the things we believe.
