About Me

Why I am a Mormon

We started taking lessons from the missionaries. I loved the fact they didn't pressure you. Our missionaries ended each lesson by telling us to pray about what we had learned, or pray to see if the Book of Mormon is true. I did that. And I found my answer. One Monday night while we were still taking lessons, I decided to read the Book of Mormon before the Monday night football game. But I never turned on the TV. I ended up reading for 5 hours. And I was at complete peace while I read. Every time I read the Book of Mormon, I was at peace. Then we were taken to the Visitor Center at the local Temple. I looked around at the artwork. Then we watched a video about Joseph Smith and how he prayed about what church to join, because he was confused. I understood that feeling. But I also felt I was finding the answers with the church. I felt at home with the members and was learning a lot. I know this church is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

My husband and I joined the church 6 years ago. My first calling was as the music leader for the congregation. I really loved that calling because as a youth I played many different instruments and was very involved with music. I have recently received a new calling. I now teach in the nursery. I love it. Playing with and teaching the little ones is very rewarding. And I learn a lot from the kids. I have several women that I visit teach. I'm not very good at it, but I try. I like talking to them about the gospel and learning from each other. I love that we have a program in place to help each other out and take care of one another.
