Hi I'm Keith Hammond

I'm a Mormon !!

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah, studied electronics at Salt Lake Trade Technical College, got married too young, moved to Southern California and raised 6 children… three boys and three girls… Later, our marriage ended in divorce. A few years later I married a wonderful woman who also had 6 children and moved back to Utah in 1992. We have 48 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. My professional career consisted of dabbling in a few business ventures and several years as an architectural engineer and designer followed by over 40 years in the Real Estate business. I am now retired and my wife and I are preparing to serve a mission. My church service has included the following: MIA Superintendent, Young Men’s President, Sunday School Teacher, Elder’s Quorum Presidency, Seminary Teacher, Sunday School President, Stake Aaronic Priesthood Committee, Counselor in Bishoprics, Ward Mission Leader, Executive Secretary, Bishop, and High Councilor.

Why I am a Mormon

As I was growing up in a family consisting of Mom, Dad, two older sisters and a younger brother, we were not active in the church even though we were all baptized when we were eight years of age. I think we were a good family with a Mom and Dad who loved us and, although they did not teach us much about the church, they did teach us principles of honesty and integrity, how to be good people, and the value of hard work. As kids, we generally went to church only once in a while… usually with friends or neighbors. What we knew of the Church we learned from friends and teachers when we did attend church meetings. Even though while growing up I did not attend church very often, I have always felt that the church was right. What I learned from friends and teachers about the church just made sense to me. In my youth I read very little of the Book of Mormon or other scriptures, but I would always try to say my prayers each night as I went to bed. The more I learned of the church and its teachings, the more I felt the rightness of it. I didn’t become really active in the church until after I was married. Over the years I have been blessed to have been able to serve in many callings in the church… and each have strengthened my testimony. The Lord has been very generous to me throughout my life. I have been watched over and protected in marvelous ways… even before I was active in the church. I have felt and been guided by the Holy Ghost throughout my life. I know that the Lord is far more in the details of our individual lives than we might think. I have been greatly blessed.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a way of life. We need each day to, as President Hinckley said, “Strive a little bit harder to be a little bit better”. …to be a better neighbor… to be a better friend… to be a better person… to be a better Christian! As we do that, and try to align our lives with that of the Savior, our lives will be blessed. I have learned that living the commandments brings blessings and happiness, and not living them brings disappointment. I strive to live the gospel in all that I do. One of my favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6… “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” I know as we trust the Lord, and follow Him, our lives will be blessed. I strive to Trust in the Lord! I have come to know the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of the church, and of the sacrifice and atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and the instrument in the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth in these later days. I know that the church today is organized in the same manner it was when the Savior was on the earth, and that it is guided and lead by Jesus Christ through living prophets, seers, and revelators. I strive to Follow the Prophet!
