Hi I'm Jacob Cook

I was born in Utah, but grew up in Kansas. I am a student at Brigham Young University, and I am preparing to serve a LDS mission.

About Me

I am an adrenaline junkie. I love sports, being outdoors, and really anything exciting. I am very open to trying new things, and rarely shy away from new opportunities. I am currently a biology major- which is likely to change- and am doing pre-med classes in hopes of becoming a physician. I am normally a pretty busy person, but in my free time I love to read. Anything that has two covers with pages and words in between, I am happy to pick up and read. Although I am not musically or artistically talented, I appreciate and love the arts. I love attending musicals, ballets, and art exhibits. I find these things refreshing and appreciate the time, talent, and devotion that goes into them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. However, I was not really converted to the church until late in my teenage years. My decision to be a Mormon did not come quickly or suddenly. Instead, it was a slow and steady understanding that the church was true that just grew and grew and grew, until I had no more doubts. This spiritual growth was a result of me seeking out and trying to find the truth. I was at a point in my life where I had a lot of questions. I didn't really understand my purpose here or what I wanted out of my life. I was lost, and I finally reached a point where I decided that I needed to figure it out. I started reading the scriptures and praying daily. I began to beg the Lord for answers, and reach out to him with my whole heart, and he responded. My prayers began to be answered, and I started to figure things out. I started feeling better about myself and who I was, and the Lord poured out his blessings onto me. I am a Mormon, because I asked, and I got an answer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every moment of every day. Being a member of the LDS faith is a lifestyle. You represent who and what you are continuously. To do this, I try to set an example for those around me. I live in an area with very few members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and sometimes it is difficult to not have as many members of the same church nearby. However, I just do the best I can. I am open about my religion, and my friends feel comfortable talking to me about it. I've participated in multiple church callings in my life, with the most recent being a teacher for a children's class. I have also decided to leave my home for two years to go out and serve a church mission. I will be leaving for this within the week, and I will have the wonderful opportunity to share the gospel and show others how I live my faith. Really, I just do all I can to be as close to God as I can be, and to help as many people with whatever they need as I can.
