Hi I'm Joyce Buckles

I grew up in Burlington,Iowa. I have been a member of the church for 43 years. I was baptized in the Mississippi at Nauvoo, Ill.

About Me

I was married 35 years ago in the Washington D.C. temple. I have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. I have a degree in Social Work. I now work as a At Risk Associate in a high school. I enjoy family very much and family history. I Love to go to the temple! I love to sing & serve in the church. I am a former foster parent we adopted 3 children all special needs. I have 2 biological daughters. I Love my family very much!

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized 43 years ago on August 18th 1973 when I was 21 years old. I grew up in another church but the teachings I had learned seemed incomplete. When I was in college I attended various religion classes & attended many different churches of different faiths & religions. One summer I was home from college & my friend's mother had been baptized into the LDS church & she was preparing to be baptized also. My friend Joy introduced me to the missionaries, I was taught & as I prayed & pondered I felt a peace & knew that I had found the right church to join. I knew once I made the commitment to be baptized there was no turning back. I am thankful I joined the church it helped me make some very important decisions in my life. I know that the LDS church is the true church of Jesus Christ. I have a testimony the Heavenly Father lives, that Jesus Christ is our Savior. They know who we are & Love us. I know that Joseph Smith is a Prophet & restored the church in these latter days. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is our modern day Prophet. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible, the Doctrine of Covenants & the Pearl of Great Price. I am thankful for the temple & the opportunity I have to be sealed to my eternal companion & children. I love my family & I know families can be together forever! I plan to endure & follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ until the end. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen

How I live my faith

I serve right now as the Ward Music Chairman & Sacrament Chorister; also recently been called as the Ward Service Coordinator. I am a Visiting Teacher also & feel it is very important to reach out to the Sisters who have been assigned to me. I try to serve my Heavenly Father by giving Christlike Service. Right now I am trying to organize opportunities for our church members to provide service in the community.
