Hi I'm Elle Hampton

I grew up in Utah, I love to act, sing, and run! I am serving a mission in Sydney Australia.

About Me

I am a huge theatre fan! My favorite Broadway Musical currently is Secret Garden. My forever favorite musicals are Phantom of the Opera and The Sound of Music. Plays/musicals I have performed in include: Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Little Women, I Never Saw another Butterfly, Les Miserables, and Selfie. I have also been apart of Stage Crew, there I was a stage manager, and did lights. For the past year I have developed a love for running! I will did my first half-marathon this last October! I love to cook, my favorite cook book is Run Fast, Eat Slow, the recipes are challenging and taste amazing! I am a full-time missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am serving in the Australia Sydney South Mission. I love my family, and I know that this church is true, and that it brings a lot of joy into my life. I would not be me, if the gospel wasn't apart of my life. I have hope and happiness in my life because of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In Junior High and High school I didn't know if the church was true, and felt like the church was restricting and that there was a lot to do. I wanted "freedom". April of my Junior year my older sister was sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple to her husband for eternity. It was a beautiful day, and her and her husband seemed so happy. Why wouldn't they be, it was their wedding day. But they seemed to radiate happiness and a purity that I knew I didn't have. Ever since I left the church I was unhappy and I didn't have any friends. I felt alone. Well, seeing their happiness and knowing they would live together forever, I decided that I wanted that. I wanted happiness and purity, I wanted to be sealed in the temple to my husband. I changed, from that day on I started to read the Book of Mormon, and live the commandments of the gospel. I became happy! In June of that same year, two months after deciding to become apart of the church I visited New York City. My mom and I decided to buy some sandwiches for the homeless on the street. While in the shop, the man at the cash register said he wanted to shake my hand. It was a little strange, but he said he wanted to because I looked so pure. I knew immediately that I wouldn't have had that look of purity unless I had chosen to live with the light of Christ in my heart everyday. Because of Jesus Christ I have been able to turn my life around. I was able to start over and be forgiven of all my past transgressions. Because of Christ there is peace in my heart, there is a powerful love in my life, from him and my Heavenly Father. If you feel burdened, and know that you want your life to change, you can change. You can become clean, and start over. Everyone makes mistakes and sins, and everyone can be forgiven and become clean. When you become clean you will feel pure, you will feel happy and loved. You are loved and cared for by your Heavenly Father and Savior.

How I live my faith

I try to live everyday as Christ-like as I can. I read and study the teachings of Christ and his prophets to become more Christ like. I try to love everyone and do service for his children. By trying to be more Christ-like I have come to really see the world differently, I try to see it how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ see it. I also keep the commandments of the church to show my love for Heavenly Father. I also go to church every week, by going to church I learn about my Savior and his sacrifice I also learn about the gospel, and by going to church I show my diligence to the Lord and also grow closer to him.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Elle Hampton
The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ, but unlike the bible it is about the people in the ancient Americas. It starts in Jerusalem with Lehi and his family, but through revelation given to Lehi by God he takes his family and travels across the ocean to the ancient America's. It gives accounts of the prophets and the people, and also tells of Jesus Christ's visit to the America's. The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Christ, and I know it to be true. I know because I have read it and studied its teachings, I have also prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if it is true. Read the Book of Mormon, study its teachings and pray to know for yourself that it is true. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Elle Hampton
No, we are not required to serve missions, but the President of the Church Thomas S. Monson has asked all worthy young men to serve a full time mission at the age of eighteen, and that all worthy young women, if they desire, to serve a mission at the age of nineteen. Those who serve a mission whether young men and women, or senior couples choose for themselves. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

Elle Hampton
Joseph Smith at the age of fourteen was searching for the the right church. It was a time of religious war. Many religions were saying they were the correct church and that the people should join their church, this is similar to today. Joseph Smith was reading and he read James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." On a April morning Joseph went into the woods behind his house and prayed to the Father what church he should join. While praying he was constrained by a dark spirit, and with all his might Joseph cried out to the Father, and the Father and Jesus christ appeared to him calling him by name, Heavenly Father said, "Joseph, this is my beloved son. Hear Him." Christ spoke to Joseph and told him to join none of the churches, and that he would restore the true church. Joseph then went home and told his mother. It wasn't until years later that Joseph restored the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less
