Hi I'm Hayden

I grew up in Idaho. I'm serving a mission in Ohio. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school graduate. I participated in great music programs in the school, like musical theatre productions, the marching band, and concert bands. I have a Presidential Scholarship to the university I plan to attend in the future. I spent a year employed at a pizza joint. I have also worked for an independent contractor doing various construction projects. I am an Eagle Scout in the BSA. I participated in and staffed for a National Youth Leadership Training camp hosted by the Boy Scouts.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a deep appreciation for the gospel. It has kept me safe, as well as given me a deeper appreciation for life. I know that this church is true, because I've seen the blessings it bestows upon its members daily. The church teaches us what this life is supposed to be for us. It has given me a purpose and plan on how I want to live my life. It is a great comfort to know for a surety what happened before my birth as well as what will happen to me after I die. The church's standards help guide me in the right path, to keep me safe from both physical and spiritual harm. I know that the church leaders know what is best for us, and that they care about us. I know they are good people, and are listening to the true leader of this church, even Jesus Christ. I know He lives, and His Atonement's power can heal and bless all those who accept it and truly want a better life. I believe my life is better now than what it would be like if I never was a member of Christ's church.

How I live my faith

I have been a Mormon all my life. I lead my fellow young men in various callings. I was the Priesthood Pianist for a couple years in my youth. I tought the 9-year-old Primary class for a few months, both as a calling and a substitute teacher. I am now serving a mission in Ohio.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is pro-family. It is true that we teach that the best way to raise a family is with a loving father and mother who are sealed for all eternity in God's temple. It is not right in God's eye to have homosexual relations (see Leviticus 20:13). I have seen same-sex parents who were once members wish to raise their children in the church, because they believe it's true despite their current lifestyle. However, the church teaches that what these children's parents are doing is wrong. We do not wish to rip families appart, no matter how differently they live their lives. That is why there is a policy in which we do not have those children to be babtised into the church until they are old enough to recognize and believe in the truth, and make their own rightful desision at the age of 18. That does not mean we do not want these families to visit and learn of the gospel. We are taught to love all of God's children, and we strive to follow this commandment (see Mark 12:31).
