Hi I'm Julie

I'm a Grandma. I love my family, music, dance, flowers, and warm sunny mornings. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Grandma, and I love doing things with my family. I grew up dancing classical ballet and was able to perform with Ballet West (many years ago!) in the Nutcracker Ballet and other programs. Now I love helping with costumes for various community theaters, and especially doing costumes and helping with choreography for my daughter's annual youth theater productions. I play the piano and organ some, but I am really excited to have just begun taking violin lessons! I enjoy gardening, crafts, sewing, hiking, dancing, singing, and playing music.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were good, wonderful people who taught good principles and values, but our family was completely inactive in the church. I struggled through my teenage years, not doing too badly, but not always making the best choices. When I was about 20 years old, through various comments of different friends (some for the church and some against it) I became curious to know more. I began reading the Book of Mormon and would slip in quietly to the back row of Sunday church meetings. I would take my questions to friends who I knew were active in the church, which they graciously answered. Over a period of time I just slipped into becoming fully active in the church. It just felt so right! For the past 48 years that I have been fully active in the church I feel like I have just continued to learn and grow. I hope it will always be that way! I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I feel their love every day. I know if I will but turn to them, I will never be alone, and will always receive the help and guidance I need. I can't even imagine how empty it would feel to not have the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I have been serving for the past four years as a Ward Missionary with my husband who is Ward Mission Leader. I have also been called to play the organ for Sacrament Meetings and teach once a month in the adult women's meeting. Each of these callings are stretching me a bit. I am not that good at the organ so I have to practice a lot and I get really nervous! And I have never taught adult women before, so it takes me a lot of time to prepare lessons and try my best to figure out how the Lord wants me to present it. Even though I always get nervous and worried about performing my callings, I have always been grateful to be called to different positions that give me new experiences. My husband and I will be entering the MTC in two weeks to begin a Full-Time Mission. We will be living at home and serving in our own Stake.
