Hi I'm Luis Mejia

I am a Mormon.

About Me

I like to go to the beach and surf. I love trying new things (especially food). I like to wander and explore (I call them my little adventures). I love my friends and spend as much time as I can with them. I enjoy taking pictures. I like watching the stars. I really appreciate listening to music. I am an Eagle Scout. I try to take advantage of every of opportunity to help others.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are converts to the church. I grew up and learned everything that they believed. I had a moment in my life that I couldn't depend on what they told me. I turned from the church, I didn't exactly want to be at church and the topic of religion often made me uneasy, especially with my parents. I never fought against the church but I didn't necessarily believe the things that I had been taught. At the time I didn't realize that this time was the first time my faith was truly tested. One day I was trying to get home after a pretty bad day at school and neither of my parents would pick up so I had to walk home in the rain. Miserable from a day in school and a pretty nasty walk home I wanted to work out and just get out all the anger. My parents came home and offered me a ride to the gym and me being stubborn after feeling abandoned I decided to ride my bike to the gym. Well my day didn't get much better, my bike broke halfway through the journey and I had a pretty nasty fall. For me that was the last straw, I looked up and I was so confused and angry with God. Why? What had I done to deserve all this. There's no way someone could be so cruel to see me struggle and humiliate me any further. Not only could he not notice me and help me in my time of need but of course He could let all these things happen when I felt most abandoned. While I contemplated all these thoughts I heard a honk behind me. Turns out it was a member of the church, he came out of his car and asked if I needed a ride. Shocked I thank him and told him I was fine. He left and I burst into tears. I talked to said member the following Sunday. He had said he felt impressed to take a scenic route from work that day (many miles out of the way through heavy traffic). In that instant I knew God was real and He loved me and was watching over me. I know this church is true. I know God is real and loves us. I know if we allow God in our lives he will help us become happier than we can ever imagine.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church regularly, I try to keep the peace with my family and friends, and try to help those who are close to me by trying to help them do what is right by doing the right myself (leading by example).
