Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband and father of three. I love technology and rock music. I'm a software QA engineer at Apple, Inc. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm second eldest in a family of eight kids. I love my wife, my kids, snow, Christmas, rock music, technology, video games. My wife and I were married in 2007. We've been through a lot since then. I was a student at Brigham Young University, studying Sound Recording Technology to help pursue my passion for alternative rock and Christian rock music. Then several big life events happened including my mom dying from cancer, the birth of our first baby girl, and losing our home in the housing crisis of 2008. I wasn't able to finish school but was blessed with opportunities to continue to provide for my family and pursue another passion—consumer technology and well designed, easy to use computer software. As time has marched on my wife and I had 2 more beautiful kids, a boy and a girl. We share as much time together as possible, watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, going on dates, and snuggling. We've shared plenty of ups and downs in life but we know we can weather anything together.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought so much peace and joy to my life. Even from a young age, struggling with personal issues and bullying, I was able to turn to my Savior Jesus Christ and receive the comfort of the Holy Ghost that I needed to become a stronger and better person. The teachings of the Gospel make sense and give me the knowledge and hope I need to make it through any challenge I may face. There are so many beautiful blessings we have from God because of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have the knowledge that He still loves us enough to speak to us and guide us, both in our own personal lives through the Gift of the Holy Ghost and actual living modern Apostles and Prophets leading the Church. We have the power and authority of God restored again to men on earth in the Priesthood that enables these things and more. I've witnessed miracles done by the power of this Priesthood and have been overwhelmed by the undeniable feeling of the Holy Ghost. We also know the true worth of souls, the nature of God, and our relationship to Him. He loves us because we are his literal children; He is our literal Father and we have a Heavenly Mother. Because of this, we know what we can become, what our capacity is. We have the knowledge and promise that our family relationships established here on earth can be sealed for all eternity by the power of the Priesthood. We can return to live with our Heavenly Parents as husband and wife. Marriage can be eternal! And as Their children, we can eventually become like Them. We can overcome ourselves and our weaknesses and become better people. This is all made possible through the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. We know not just that He atoned for our sins, but we know *why*. And it's amazing. This knowledge is so beautiful and empowering. It gives us all identity, purpose, courage, strength, joy, hope, and love for our fellow men and women. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I do my best to make my faith a deep part of my life and who I am everyday. I pray to my Heavenly Father and express my gratitude for everything I enjoy and have in life, especially for my wife and kids and the time we get to spend together. I tell Him of my struggles and plead for His help and the Holy Ghost. I read my scriptures and listening to faith promoting podcasts as part of my morning study. These things prepare me for the challenges of everyday life and help me keep the best perspective and make the best choices. I strive to be an example of kindness and righteousness to those around me. I find people need an anchor in their life and I do my best to help them find that. Because of the way I live my life, it's not uncommon for friends and co-workers to come to me for advice. I help them try to focus on the good things in life and remember what's most important—especially the love of their Savior Jesus Christ. I attend church every week with my family. I enjoy participating in community service projects our Ward (local congregation) put together and helping serve the spontaneous needs of Ward members. I work closely with the missionaries in our area, helping serve people who aren't members of the Church and to share the love of our Savior and joy of His restored Gospel. I occasionally teach a Sunday School class about the basic principles of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
