Hi I'm Andrew Jacob Hughes

I grew up in Kentucky, USA. I graduated from college with an Astrophysics degree at 20. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated with an Astrophysics degree at 20. I love to play video games and to watch animes such as One Piece.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church. I have been in the Gospel my whole life. Whenever I questions if the Church is true or not, I sit back and think through things logically. If there were no purpose to this life, why does everyone from a very young age tend to do what is defined as "right"? Why not do whatever I want and forget about the consequences? This doesn't make sense to me. So, if there is purpose to this life, then there must be natural laws that are followed in order to follow this purpose. There must also be someone that completely understands this purpose. This is our Heavenly Father. He knows what has to be done to fulfill our purpose. He prepares ways for us so that we may get on the path to Him and achieve what He knows we can. The way our Heavenly Father helps guides us is through His holy prophets. He instructed these people in what and how to say His words so that we may return to Him. If He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then it stands to reason that He operates the same now as He has in the past. He restored His and His Son's gospel to the earth through His servant Joseph Smith, Jr., and He continues to speak to us today through His servant Thomas S. Monson, as well as everyone else called to serve in the Church. One way I know for a fact that He cares is His love to His grieving children. The night that my grandfather passed away, my dad called me and updated me on what was happening. Right after the phone call, I wasn't sure what my feelings were, but my Heavenly Father did; He knew that I was pining for the loss that was to come. In a voice that was not my own, in my head I heard clearly, "Everything will be alright."; this voice was so powerful and so unlike my own that I actually opened my eyes and searched the room for the source. I didn't find it, but as I closed my eyes again to try to fall asleep, I again heard the same loving voice: "Everything will be OK."

How I live my faith

I go to almost all the church activities. I served most recently as the chorister for the Primary children. I try to keep my language and my appearance clean. I help others whenever and however I can.
