Hi I'm Jeff Erickson

I'm from Layton, Utah. I have an amazing family with a fantastic friend support group. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked at a Scout Camp for 2 years, and absolutely loved it! I made so many friends and helped so many 12-15 year old boys learn about the world they live in, and how they can improve it and themselves. I played in my High School Jazz Band for 3 years and LOVED it! My brothers have all served missions; 2 in Chile, 1 in the Phillipines, and I'm preparing to serve in Brazil in the near future!!!

Why I am a Mormon

My family have been members for generations, and so you it started off just kinda as a family tradition. I didn't hate the Church, but I admit, some of the stuff they teach doesn't always logically make sense. How could I believe in a Being whom I've never seen? Whom I can't yet see? But as I grew older, I realized many blessings that came from being an active member and participant of the LDS Church, and even though it still doesn't totally make sense, especially logically, I believe it to be the true Church. There is no way that this Church is just a coincidence to be able to enjoy all of the blessing that we can receive, the help and strength from God, and the forgiveness that is provided through Christ!! God works in his own ways, and even though they may seem illogical, crazy, visionary, or straight up unbelievable; Christ ALWAYS makes it work. He makes the impossible possible. He can make you change your life. Your heart. Make you love and care for others. If this Church isn't for people like me, ordinary people who are buffeted around every day by an every changing society of degrading morals, then who's it for? Some may say that it is a mistake to join this Christian Faith, and if it is, although I know otherwise, then it is the best mistake you and I can make!!! This Church is for me. This Church is for you. This Church is for anyone who looks for hope, happiness, and healing. This Church is for everyone!!!

How I live my faith

My calling in the Church has been a "Family History Youth Consultant", meaning when someone in the neighborhood wants help learning about their ancestors, to index records to allow others to learn about their ancestors, or help them use tools and websites the LDS Church provides us to help us make sure our family tree is correct and that our family is connected as far back as possible. It can be difficult, but it is so rewarding to learn about those who came before, and are responsible for bringing all of us here on Earth!!

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Jeff Erickson
I've been a member my whole life. I've met thousands of Members of the LDS Church, or Mormons as is our nickname, and not one of them has ever practiced polygamy. There was a time during the Church's rise where the prophet was instructed to have the members practice this mandatory, but years later removed the commandment, also through prophetic revelation. It hasn't been practiced by any members of our Church since that time, and any members who do so of their own free will and choice, are dismissed from the Church. So any Mormons who practice polygamy are actually no longer members of our Church. As to why God would have commanded our ancestors to have done this, I'm not entirely sure, but what I do know is that practice is now gone, and is no longer a valid accusation against the Church. If you still believe that it is still a valid point of concern, talk with the LDS Missionaries, other members of our Church, or Visit lds.org for further truth and knowledge. Show more Show less
