Hi I'm Josh

I grew up moving around the world. Born in California, half Maori, currently serving a mission in Milan Italy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy life. It is pretty great and I have been lucky enough in my life to experience many incredible things. I am very passionate about martial arts. I practice Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiujitsu. My Mother is from New Zealand and I am a proud Maori. I am grateful for my whānau and the knowledge of my māoritanga. Reading is one of my passions and there is nothing more enjoyable than a good book on the couch during some sweater weather. I am a huge Harry Potter nerd although I find a good scientific journal enjoyable from time to time. I love to travel and have moved around my whole life. I was born in California, but have since lived in Oregon, Ireland, France, and Singapore. My family is the most important thing in my life and it is thanks to them that moving was so enjoyable. I speak French fluently and I am currently learning Italian as I serve in the Italy Milan Mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is through this Church that I will be able to reach my full potential in both an earthly and divine sense. Because of the knowledge that I have gained from being a Mormon I am a stronger and more resilient person when things are hard. And when things are good I have a stronger base to be able to appreciate those good times and be ready when difficulties strike again as they inevitably do. I am a Mormon because I have a strong faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for me. Because of what Jesus did, I can be made clean. Because of him I can return to live with my Heavenly Father and my family for all eternity in peace and happiness. That knowledge is worth more to me than I can express. I am a Mormon because I love it. I love my God and my Savior and brother Jesus Christ, and exercising faith in them brings more joy and happiness into my life than anything else that this world has to offer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being the best example I can be of a loving and caring person. We are all imperfect and constantly making mistakes, so all we can do is our very best to be the best people that we can be. I am currently serving a two-year mission in Milan, Italy which took a lot of faith to undertake. It is a daunting preposition and two years is a long time. However through our Heavenly Father I can do anything. We can all do anything and by relying on him through both the good and the hard times we are showing our faith, and our love for him.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Josh
We believe that baptism by proper authority is an essential saving ordinance in order for us to be able to return back to live with God. As Mormons, that is what we aspire to accomplish by obeying God's commandments and staying faithful to what we know to be true. Many people throughout the history of the world have not had the opportunity to receive these essential blessings. It would not be fair for them to not be admitted into the Kingdom of our loving Heavenly Father just because they did not come into contact with the church during their time on the Earth. Therefore, we give those who have passed on the opportunity to accept or reject an Earthly baptism by performing it in their name. That way, if they wish, they can fully embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ despite having never been able to receive it while here on the Earth. Show more Show less
