Hi I'm Charles (Butch) Cornell

I grew up in Northumberland Pennsylvania where I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) at age 13.

About Me

I am currently retired and with my wife we are looking forward to going on a church mission some day. I have two wonderful children and 6 fantastic grandchildren. I enjoy playing golfing with friends and my grandchildren. I take my grandchildren one at a time. I tried taking two at a time, but that was like herding cats. Taking my grandchildren one at a time gives me a chance to relate with them one-on-one. I have been married to my sweetheart and best friend for 41 years. We went through some pretty hard times in our marriage, but we stuck it out and it sure was worth it. We now enjoy spending time with our family. Our children and grandchildren live in the same town as my wife and I, so we are blessed to be able to spend time with them and watching our grandchildren play sports, going to school plays and everything else that involves our children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ has been reestablished on the earth.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life following the example of Jesus Christ. I believe that the first and great commandment is to first love God and second to love my neighbor and when you serve your neighbor you are serving your God. I consider those who live in by neighborhood as close personal friends. My wife and I enjoy inviting neighbors over for barbeques. I also enjoy visiting my friends and neighbors. My wife and I take one night a week and pick a neighbor who might need a visit. This strengthens our friendship with our neighbors. I also enjoy what we in the church call "Home Teaching". That is where we go to a church members homes and give a short gospel lesson and visit with them to make sure they are doing alright and see if there is anything we can do for them. I have been able to organize projects to weed flower gardens, rake leaves, mow lawns and perform house hold maintenance for those who can't do it for themselves. My wife and I also teach "Strengthening Marriage" classes. In these classes we teach couples how to interact with each other to better communicate, solve conflicts, and to treat each other as equal partners in the marriage. We have leaned a lot by teaching the class and find it to be very rewarding.
