Hi I'm Steve Selcho

I grew up on a farm in southern Idaho. Married my high school sweetheart. Have four children and 15 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a young boy I enjoyed all sports and taking things apart to see how they worked. I played football, basketball and track in High School. In collage is was on the rowing team at the University of Pennsylvania. We were national champions as freshmen. I majored in engineering and also received a masters degree at UCLA. I worked for 25 years in aerospace companies, starting out in computer design, moving to nuclear instrumentation, and then transitioning to international marketing and sales. I spent 12 years at a company that provided graphics computers for flight simulators around the world. I then started my own company which provided marketing and print products and services to businesses. After 20 years I turned the business over to my son, and retired. My wife and I are now moving to Zimbabwe to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Mormons. After this 2 year adventure we will return to our home in Utah and look for our next fun experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ as it includes the concepts He taught as recorded in the Bible, but also in His second witness of the Book of Mormon. The combination of these scriptures along with counsel from His modern day Prophets complete the grand truth which explains the grand plan of our Father In Heaven and my relationship with Him. The restoration of His Holy Priesthood along with the saving ordinances of the Temple enable us to make our family relationships eternal and progress toward exaltation. My Heavenly Father listens to and answers my prayers. All these together give me and my family joy. We are buoyed up by our Savior in times of turmoil and trouble, and we have faith that through His sacrifice on our behalf we will be saved and have eternal life.

How I live my faith

Since I was six years old I have actively attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have tried to follow the example of Jesus Christ in serving my neighbors, friends, family and others who cross my path. Within the normal organization of the church I have taught youth and adult classes. I have served in several leadership roles including bishop of my local ward congregation. I have also officiated in priesthood ordinances in the Salt Lake City Temple. But, regardless of whether it is part of an official responsibility or simply helping a friend, neighbor, or family member, the most enjoyable and satisfying experiences come from one-to-one ministering where I can be the Lord's hands in helping His children. It is in this quiet, below the radar service that you get to watch the atonement of Jesus Christ come into a person's life, lift their burdens, and change their life experience for the better.
