Hi I'm Sierra

I'm a Portland Native passionate about serving others. I love Indian food and alternative music. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sophomore in college studying Cultural Anthropology, the study of people and cultures. I love to travel and meet new people. My favorite place, as well as the most beautiful place that I've ever been to is Machu Picchu in Peru. I love camping, art, singing and dancing. I have been called to serve in the Atlanta, Georgia Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a believer because I have felt God's love for me. His love is Infinite. Unceasing. All encompassing. Who am I to deserve such a gift? The lord tells me that I am precious, that I am his child and that I am worthy of his love. (We all are!) Sometimes I don't feel worthy. Sometimes I can't even stand to look at my face in the mirror. Because I make mistakes. I mess up. We all do. And He knows that because he knows his children, even the deepest thoughts of our very souls. He made us perfect, but we are still imperfect because we are only human. Of course God understands so he sent his son, even Jesus Christ to atone for our sins that we may be forgiven. Love came down and rescued me. And that will never change. No matter what, his grace abounds in deepest waters. We are never alone. We are never forgotten. When all else fades, he remains. My favorite scripture is Psalms 61:2. It says, "From the ends of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I." The Rock is our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and I know that I can pray to my Heavenly Father and he will hear and answer my pray, in his goodness and timing. And what a blessing it is to know of such a beautiful truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a good example to all those around me. I try and emulate Christ-like attributes such as kindness, charity, forgiveness, humility and virtue. Of course I am not perfect but I know that I can be perfected in Christ as I follow His commandments and repent of my wrongdoings. I decided to serve a mission to do my best to thank God for all that he has done for me. For all of my blessings, for all of my trials, and for His atoning sacrifice. I can never truly repay Him, but I can do my best to love Him by loving all of His children. "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
