Hi I'm Brooke

I'm a student and I'm studying to be a Math Teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoying playing soccer in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. I'm also pretty introverted so I love spending time watching movies with my family. Currently, I'm finishing up my last year of college. I'm studying to become a Math Teacher. Someday I hope to teach and coach soccer. While I've been at school I've learn a lot about myself, I've gained new friendships, and I've strengthen my testimony of the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because this church teaches us how to be truly happy. There was a time in my life when I didn't fully understand the gospel and so I was making some poor choices. I remember I was watching Boyd K. Packer speak and the spirit prompted me to repent. When I was able to repent l felt more joy than I had ever felt before. It was amazing! In the Book of Mormon there is a scripture that describes this it says, "Yea, I say unto you, my son, that there could be nothing so exquisite and so bitter as were my pains. Yea, and again I say unto you, my son, that on the other hand, there ca be nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy." (Alma 36:21) This means to me that when we feel dragged down by sin and when we feel like we are the worst person in the world, there is a way out. I know that our Savior is Jesus Christ and that he has atoned for our sins. So that we may repent and our sins may be forgiven. So that we may feel as great of joy as we did feel pain. What a marvelous blessing. We can be forgiven and we can truly be happy. I know that this church is the true church. If you are seeking to find answers, to feel peace, to find purpose, or to find happiness, this is where you will find it.

How I live my faith

This summer I was asked to teach Sunday School classes in our church. Sometimes I would teach a group of members about gospel principles. There is a manual that we base our lessons on and a specific lesson is assigned each week. I also have taught a class that is meant to prepare those who will soon enter the temple. I really enjoyed this class because I love the temple. It is an amazing place where we get to preform saving ordinances that are essential to receiving exaltation. Exaltation is being able to live with God forever with eternal happiness. We first preform these ordinances for ourselves and then we do them vicariously for those who have already died and didn't have a chance to receive them when they were alive. This is something I love about the gospel! Everyone has the opportunity to accept the gospel and have eternal happiness even if they never learned about the church before they died. This is why I love doing genealogy work. I can find members of my family that have passed away that need temple work done and then I can go to the temple to do it for them. Because of the temple we can be with our families forever.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

We can come to know our Father in Heaven by praying to him in the name of Jesus Christ. He is a loving father who wants to hear from us. Just like any relationship, we have to talk to develop a deeper, trusting friendship. There is a scripture that says that we should always have a prayer in our hearts. I have found that as I have continually talked to my Heavenly Father I have become closer to him. We don't always have to pray on our knees, I have found myself praying when I'm walking around campus, when I'm at work, and when I'm driving home from work. When I tell my Father in Heaven of my concerns and of the things I'm thankful for, I can feel him around me. I could imagine him with me. He loves us and he wants us to know him. Pray to him with real intent and you will come to know him. Show more Show less
