Hi I'm Emily

I am serving in the Alabama Birmingham Mission! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a full-time mission in Birmingham, Alabama and love talking about my love of God and the restored gospel to the people in the South! Before I came out to Alabama, I studied Human Development and hoped to become a Family Life Educator. I served with KidsontheMove, where I helped take care of autistic kids and their siblings while their parents learned how to be a better parent to an autistic child. I love dancing: ballet, tap, jazz, everything. I also love being outdoors, especially hiking. Reading is a yes and fitness is a yes. I have lots of big plans to travel the world and learn different languages! Right now I know a little bit of ASL and I'm trying to learn Spanish. Family is super important to me. Spending time with my family is one of my favorite things:)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the fullness of the gospel. I believe that other religions do have truth in them, but I have chosen to be a member of this Church because it has the complete truth. As I read the Book of Mormon, my mind is filled with clarity, my life has direction, and my heart is full of joy and peace. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that God restored His gospel on the earth because He cares about each one of us. He wants us to return to live in His presence and to become like Him. I know that families are able to be together throughout eternity and that the relationships we form now are eternal. There is purpose to this life. This life is the time to prepare to meet God. I know that all things are possible with the help of our God. This knowledge helps me get through each and every day and gives me motivation to do things that I didn't think were possible. It brings light, joy, and hope into my life and I know that this gospel can bring the same happiness to all of God's children, which is all of us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the way Christ did. Christ served others and was willing to listen to their concerns, so I try to do so too. I regularly participate in and help plan service projects in the community and listen to my friends who need comfort and support. I also try to integrate the things I learn spiritually into my interactions with friends. For a year before I graduated from high school, I send out a group text to everyone in my contact list every Sunday with a scripture that had touched me the previous week along with my thoughts explaining why it was important to me. But mostly, I try to be the type of person I know that God would want me to be.
