Hi I'm Taryn Hansen

I am a missionary for La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, I am learning Spanish, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

One of my favorite things to do is read. You can always catch me carrying around a book in my purse even in places where one is not needed... like the movies! I have one year of college under my belt, and was pretty proud of myself for not dying under the stress.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon! I was born into the Mormon Church. I have grown up learning about the gospel and gaining knowledge that I know is true. I haven't ever had a miraculous experience where I received a revelation from God, but I have gained my testimony by doing what is wanted of me by the Lord. He shows me everyday why this gospel is true. Through the little things that happen. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. The only way for me to be able to repent of my sins was for the atonement to happen. Without my Redeemer there would be no way for me to be in His or my Heavenly Fathers presence ever again. I would forever live in sin! I would be a servant to "He who must not be named" (Harry Potter quote!). I know that if my savior didn't love me he would not have died for me. We believe that our families can be together forever. That there is life after death. If we are obedient to the Lord's commandments we can be with them for all eternity. I love my family so much. I am so happy that I get to be with my family always, because one lifetime is not enough.

How I live my faith

I was recently called to be a Sunday School teacher for the 14 and 15 year-olds. At first I was really nervous because I am not that big of a talker, but now it has become easier for me to express my thoughts and feelings. I love to go to our church activities. They are so fun! I am now out serving the Lord for a year and a half! I have left my family and my life behind to share what I know to be true. I am so happy to be able to bring others unto Christ whom I love.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Taryn Hansen
The word required is a difficult word. I think the word opportunity is much better. Most 18/19 year old males will serve a mission. Senior couples who are married and their children are grown are also given the opportunity to serve. Females are given the opportunity to choose to serve when they turn 19. I decided to serve a mission because prayed and I felt like it was something the Lord needed me to do. I know that there is someone out there waiting for me to find them and bring them back into the fold of God. The Lord has commanded us to find his sheep, and that is what we will do.
