Hi I'm James

I grew up in Page, Arizona. I was born into the LDS church under decent circumstances, though I've had my own share of struggles.

About Me

I am a high school graduate with some experience in systems programming. I've attended a term at BYU, in Provo and have deferred the remainder of my tenure for after my 2-year mission service. In my free time (in the wee hours before and after work) I'm an aspiring software developer, working on several projects for iOS, progressing toward Mac and Android, with hopes of moving on to Windows in future.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into this Church, I have learned over the course of my life the joy it brings me and others, inside and out of its organization. I have learned at an early age just how simple, yet immensely profound Christ's gospel is for every person here on earth! I cannot express just how much joy I've found with the Church, and with my personal communion with God and His Son. My most precious possession is my faith in God's plan for me, and each one of His children.

How I live my faith

I participate in service projects around the community: distributing firewood in the winters, landscaping, anywhere I can render service effectively. I visit a few families and elderly couples whenever they need my services, and that of my assigned companion. I was a Sunday School teacher for seven-year-olds for the past few months, though I was recently released to serve my mission in Ohio.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

James
All good things. All of that money goes toward maintaining the Church itself; the construction of beautiful temples, monuments to our Heavenly Father; keeping missionaries alive; family history work; classroom and study materials. At the very least, you'll never see it lining the bishop's pocket! See Malachi 3:10 for the Lord's promised blessings for giving Him what little we can. I've seen those personally, and I get to see many a time that full and honest tithe payers find those blessings for themselves! I've never once heard that a tithe-payer in the Church did not see the fruits of their faith in the Lord here! Show more Show less
