Hi I'm Cameron

I grew up in California. I play the piano and the guitar. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports. I played basketball and football in elementary and middle school, not to mention many other sports at recess. In high school I was on the swim team all four years. I love the feeling of confidence that comes with being athletic. While I was never the best on any of my teams, I enjoyed being part of a team, it gave me a sense of belonging. I also love music. I grew up taking piano lessons and started learning the guitar in high school. I like listening to all sorts of music, in fact I'm often tapping out the rhythm of a song that is in my head. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Whether it's watching a movie together, playing a sport together, or just hanging out and talking, I am most comfortable when I'm around people I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have fasted, prayed, and actively searched the scriptures throughout my life, and as a result I have come to the knowledge through the Holy Ghost that this gospel is true. I cannot pinpoint a time in my life where it was like a lightbulb coming on and I suddenly knew it was true. It has come to me piece by piece, line upon line, precept upon precept, until I am sure that this is the truth. I have a firm testimony of the Book of Mormon, that it is the word of God, translated by Joseph Smith through the power of God. I know that this gospel has been restored in the way that Christ Himself originally established it when He was on the earth.

How I live my faith

One of the most important ways I live my faith is by being an example to those around me who do not believe the way I do. Jesus Christ was a perfect example by the way He lived His life. I hope that as I strive to live my life in accordance to His teachings I can have a positive influence on others around me. Another way I live my faith is by serving others. When I can find a way to serve someone, I feel the Savior's love for me, for them, and I begin to love those I serve more. Christ was a perfect example of serving others, in fact He gave His whole life for us. Whether it's serving the sick or afflicted in my ward, helping out around the house, or just being a friend to someone, I feel the Spirit of God when I do these things and I know my Savior approves.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is the gate by which we enter to start on the strait and narrow path leading to salvation. Baptism is an ordinance, a sacred ceremony that is connected to a specific covenant. In the case of baptism, the covenant is to always remember Christ and keep His commandments. We believe that to truly follow the example of Christ we must be baptized as He was, by immersion and by the proper authority. When we are baptized, our sins are forgiven and we are made clean, and we can then continue on the path of righteousness that leads to salvation. Show more Show less
