Hi I'm Amy

I am from San Diego. I am called to serve in the Phoenix Arizona mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am getting ready to serve a mission in the Phoenix Arizona mission. I am both so excited but also nervous. Before I leave on my mission I have been working so that I can still pay for my car while I am on my mission and I have also been traveling all over California to all the places that I have always wanted to go.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My mom faithfully went every Sunday while my dad spent his time drinking. My dad always tried to persuade me from the Church. I was always confused as a child as to if the Church was true or not. As my dad let his alcoholism consume him, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I never felt like anyone understood what I was going through. One day I felt like I had no purpose here on earth and was ready to give up. I got down on my knees and prayed with all my heart and soul that the pain I was feeling would go away and I could feel some peace to know that everything would work out and be okay. I immediately was overcome with peace, it felt like someone was wiping away my tears. I felt the Lord's love pouring down on me. A few weeks later my dad decided to get sober for once and for all. It was amazing seeing how his life changed in a second when he turned his life over to the Lord. I know that the Lord knows us each individually and all our situations, hopes, and fears. He is always there for us just reaching his hand out for us to grab it. He can heal wounds that we thought would never heal. I love my Heavenly Father with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I currently do not have a calling in my ward, but I do host visiting teaching parties at my house. My visiting teaching companion and I have been doing this for a few months now. We invited the people we visit home teach to come over and to cook dinner and dessert with us. For example, last week we made homemade macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. This is something fun we decided to do because we were having a hard time getting a hold of our less active members. However, we found that in a light situation filled with fun and delicious food they were more likely to come. We really enjoy doing this every month. All the girls that we visit teach have become great friends and the less active members started coming back to church due to their new friendships.
