Hi I'm Denzil

I love astronomy and aviation and I'm am Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from high school in Utah. My future plans are to go on to college and get a degree in Astrophysics. My favorite thing to do when I get the chance is fly. I love the feeling of freedom that comes with it. I also love learning. It is a large part of the reason I want to become an astrophysicist. There is so much more to learn about what is out there in space. In high school I was a member of the track and cross country team. Running became a passion of mine along with my education. I come from a family of ten, with seven siblings and I am the oldest. It may be big but it is awesome. I also love mountain biking, hiking, camping, boating, waterskiing, wake boarding, snow skiing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, hammocking, etc. I love doing pretty much anything outdoors and living in Utah makes it the perfect place to do all of these things.

Why I am a Mormon

Like I said before, I was born into the LDS faith. I tagged along with my parents to church when I was younger. It wasn't my favorite thing to do, but I went because I knew my parents wanted me to and it provided me a chance to see friends. When I turned eight I made the choice to be baptized and confirmed a member of the Church. It was around this time that I made the decision to decide for myself the future I was going to pursue. My dad likes to say that he has always known the church is true, and I feel the same way, but regardless I still read the Book of Mormon and tried praying about it. I got the feeling that the course I'd set was good and well here I am today. My relationship with Heavenly Father hasn't always been what He or I want it to be, but I've still seen my fair share of miracles and blessings. I can now say with confidence that I know my Heavenly Father is there and that He is looking out for me. I know that this path I am on now is a just one and it has made my life far more meaningful and happy than when I am off it. I know that this church is true. I know that Heavenly Father is our Father and He loves us and wants for us to be able to return to live with Him. He loves us so much that He sent down his First Begotten to suffer and atone for our sins so that if we choose, we can by our own choice return to them. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to return the church to the earth in these latter days and I know that Thomas S Monson is the prophet called of God today to help guide the church now. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and works in tandem with the Bible to bring God's word to us in these latter days. I know that if I follow God's commandments I can return to live with Him and my family for eternity and for that I am eternally grateful. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I was born into the LDS faith. I attended church with my parents when I was younger but I didn't really understand why at the time. At the age of eight I began actively participating in the cub scouting program which has close ties with the church. I enjoyed the time I spent in the various dens and the life along with spiritual skills we developed there. When I turned twelve I became a member of the youth program in the church along with the boy scouting program. At thirteen I earned my Eagle Scout award. The big project that I did involved me organizing a large group of people to help me attain a bunch of trees and make benches to have installed at the middle school I was attending. It was such an incredible learning experience of how to lead and organize service projects. From ages 12-18 I have held various assignments that often involved me spending time with adult leaders discussing and planning on how best to lead and serve the other youth in our ward. I also helped to organize various activities from Scouting campouts to spiritual firesides. I served as the President of the various youth groups and although adult advisors were put over us to help guide us, it was our responsibility to lead and guide the other youth. Because of this I have made sure to live my life the way the Lord has asked so that I can be an example to those around me.
