Hi I'm Josh

I am a fisherman, woodworker, future teacher, I love my family, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member of the LDS Church my whole life, and I love this church. I have been called to serve in the California Fresno Mission. I have lived in Utah for more than 10 years and I love everything about it. I love fishing and hunting in the beautiful mountains, hiking and rappelling in slot canyons, and the amazing night sky that Utah has to offer. I played lacrosse in high school, and I have been an assistant coach on a youth lacrosse team. I am a runner, in the sense that I run every once and a while when I am motivated, and recently completed my first half marathon. I play the cello, and I love all kinds of music. Music plays a large role in my life in giving me motivation, and I feel that listening to hymns is the best way to invite the spirit to any activity. I am a student at BYU, and I am studying Technology and Engineering Education (TEE), in the hopes of one day becoming a woodworking teacher. I have a real passion for working with wood. When I am making a desk, or turning a bowl, or cleaning up piles of sawdust, I am always fascinated at how unique each piece of wood is. One of the biggest reasons that I love going to BYU so much is the spiritual aspect that is found in each class. There aren't very many other universities where you start class with a prayer. I love my family. My parents are so supportive in everything that I do, and my three younger siblings are all very unique and I love that I have different relationships with each of them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, and I'll die a Mormon, and in the middle, I'll be a Mormon. I love this Church so deeply and I can't imagine my life without it. It has always been a constant in my life, and it has helped me in so many ways. I know this church is true. I know that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us, and that He sent His Son to this Earth to atone for our sins and provide a way to return and live with Him. I know that the family is ordained of God, and that we can live with them forever. I know that Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and that he translated the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. I know that the temple is the house of the Lord, and that the ordinances that are performed in the temple are sacred and holy. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet that receives revelation for the Church. I know that by following the commandments and serving others, that we can be happy. I have a testimony of each of these things, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to serve others and bear testimony of my beliefs when it is appropriate to do so. I had the opportunity to work as a Sports Camp Counselor at BYU, and I was able to share devotionals with the young men that were in my group. Every night I prepared a spiritual thought and shared with them my testimony. I love service. When I am serving others, and I see how my service helps them and brings happiness into their lives, it makes me happy! It is such a powerful missionary tool, and I have seen blessings come from it.
