Hi I'm Ben Dorsey

I am a food and dog enthusiast. I love wakeboarding and snowboarding, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a 2 year LDS mission until 2018. I was born in denver colorado, but I have grown up in Peoria, Arizona since I was about 6 months old. My favorite sport has always been swimming. I learned how to swim by myself at age 2, and began swimming competitively at the age of 6. I was a varsity swimmer all 4 years of High School. I didn't participate in any other sports. I tried out for the volleyball team with some friends, but i didn't make the team. I dont have the best hand eye coordination (which is why I'm a swimmer.) I also love to casually participate in any action sports that use a board (wake board, surf, longboard, etc.) I was a lifeguard for 3 years before i left for my mission. I enjoyed lifeguarding because I had grown up around pools, so I felt comfortable around water. Lifeguarding was great way to learn how to work with others as a leader and as a follower. It also taught me valuable life saving skills, such as CPR, first aid, and how to clean a bathroom real well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father loves all of His children, and He leads them to their full potential if they allow Him and His teachings into their lives. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and that He atoned for my sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. I know that Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the church in the latter days, and that he served his Heavenly Father diligently. I have come to know that God loves me and cares deeply about me. Studying the book of Mormon has helped me come closer to Him than any other book, as the prophet Joseph Smith promised. I know that the living prophets in this church can give us guidance that will lead us to peaceful live. Jesus Christ is at the head of the church and directs his leaders to help us. Jesus Christ sent his son because he loves us and needs us home.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to live my faith through action. I always try to be a good example to others and serve in small and simple ways. I always strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ because I love him, and he loved others perfectly. I want to be and urgent, diligent servant of my fellow man and my God. I also live my faith through my calling as a servant of Jesus Christ. I am currently a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the New York, Rochester mission. I hope to impact many lives as a missionary. My purpose as a missionary is to invite others unto christ, and that is what I Intend on doing, through service, and teaching investigators directly about the gospel. I hope to show the people of New York that The Book of Mormon is another true testament of Jesus Christ, in addition to the Bible, and that they can return to live with their heavenly father after this life if they follow the gospel principles, among many other blessings and teachings.

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?
