Hi I'm Connor

I spent most of my life growing up in Georgia. I hold a deep love for the arts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member for just under two and a half years now. I am a performing arts major and a sophomore in college. I will be leaving on a mission in just a few days! I have always loved many forms of art: Theatrical, Visual, Culinary, Digital, the list really goes on but I'm trying to keep this short.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church just about two and a half years ago. Growing up in the south, I didn't even know what a Mormon was until the end of my Freshman year of High School. And as it turned out, a ton of my best friends, teachers, and just favorite people over all were members of the church. One of those people was my Director of several plays I had been a part of. We were a pretty competitive school as far as our arts departments go so we would travel a lot to be a part of various competitions, and I would always inevitably wind up talking to my director for hours and hours about anything and everything to help the time pass. Religion has always been important to me (even though I identified as non-denominational for a good chunk of my life) so we would always wind up on the topic of religion some way or another. He gave me some beautiful scriptures from the Book of Mormon and I thought they were great but having my mom's side of the family all be Catholic and my dad's side all Southern Baptist, I didn't want to rock the boat. So I left it alone for a while. I attended dozens of different churches and none of them quite felt right. Eventually I started dating a wonderful young lady who was a member of the church and one night thought I'd ask her if I could meet up with the missionaries at her place. She and her lovely family were more than happy to oblige and the rest is history. I just want to bear my testimony here for a minute and say I know without a shadow of a doubt that this church is true. Joseph Smith truly was called as a prophet of the lord to restore the complete gospel in these latter days. Our Heavenly Father knows us and loves us more than we can fathom. I know that my redeemer lives. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I have had just a few callings since joining the church- I've helped organize ward activities for my college group, I have helped the bishop out in various ways, and now I will be serving the next two years as a missionary. One of my very favorite memories with the church was when I had only been a member for a few months. For our big annual youth activity we were going to do a ton of volunteer work for a horse ranch that gives horseback riding lessons to the physically or mentally impaired. If I'm being honest, I was not looking forward to it. It was supposed to rain for all of the three days we were going to be working there and it did like you wouldn't imagine. But there was a wonderful feeling of peace and even comfort the entire time we were all working. To see all these teenagers put this project before themselves was truly humbling and they worked extremely hard. It was easily one of the most gratifying weekends of my life.
