Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a songwriter and musician. I'm a missionary in the Florida Orlando Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I write music. I play 8 instruments. I had an album in 9th grade. Currently preparing to serve as a missionary in Florida. I love going to many different temples. I cook and make my own dresses and skirts. I believe in personal miracles.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I went to primary as a child and went to the young women meetings. There came a time, like most youth, where I questioned all I was taught. I read my scriptures everyday, but still felt doubt. One summer, I was determined to find an answer. My family went camping in Manti and I took that as an opportunity. I always read about how the prophets of old would go into the mountains when they had an issue, so I tried it. I went to the top of the small mountain we were next to and fell to my knees and started praying. Soon I started crying. I prayed to know that I was loved and heard. I prayed that I could gain a sure testimony of the gospel and that I would know if I was supposed to serve a mission. I felt peace afterwards, but still wasn't sure if I got an answer. I continued on down the mountain and I came to an electric box that was blown off the pole halfway. It was open and it appeared to have something in it. When I opened it, I found it was a Book of Mormon. The spirit was overwhelming and told me to open it. I looked for the place I was at in my regular reading but went to the wrong book with the same chapter. I only read four verses, but those verses gave me answers and instructions for the rest of my life and they gave me a testimony I love to this day. It was Alma 17:1-4 and it got my attention at first because it mentioned Manti. That gave me a surety that God knew and loved me. I continued on and saw instructions specifically for me and for me to gain a strong testimony. He gave me answers and He gave me peace. His peace. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you." Miracles are still relevant today, and I have seen many much grander than this, but this one was my personal miracle that put me where I am.

How I live my faith

I teach the 8 year olds of my ward each Sunday. Previously, I would play piano preludes for the kids before they started their classes. I also played piano for the youth of my ward and the youth of my seminary classes and combined ward meetings. I was the pianist for the youth choir that was prepared for our trek across Wyoming. I am now serving as a missionary in the Florida Orlando Mission and still using music to share the gospel.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a record of the people living in ancient America. In 3 Nephi, it is paralleled with the New Testament where they crucify Him and Jesus is resurrected. He first visited his disciples then came to ancient America to continue the work on the other side of the world. He did the same things for the people there as he did with his disciples before he died like healing the sick, teaching the gospel, and blessing the children. When he came to ancient America He also called twelve disciples on this side of the world to organize His church in the Americas. Because we have better communications these days, we have the 12 disciples instead of 12 on each side of the world. Show more Show less
