Hi I'm Cristiana Farnsworth

I am a sister, friend, and daughter. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona, and I am a student of international relations at Brigham Young University. I am a sister to six brothers and one sister, and a daughter to great parents.

Why I am a Mormon

Why, though, am I specifically a Mormon? Because I believe a loving God still speaks to His children. He still guides and directs us today through a living prophet and modern revelation. Further, the Book of Mormon is a clear testament of Jesus Christ as our Savior and the Son of God, and a way we can become closer to Christ. Like any good parent, God's work is with His children, us. This is His work and His glory: to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. That work isn't finished yet. He wants us to learn to be like Him and to help us come back home to Him, where He will welcome us with loving arms. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God written by prophets of old and translated by a prophet in our day and time. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth and that it is guided by a living prophet.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am serving as a volunteer in Russia. Despite the lengthy winter, I want to brighten the day of the these great people here. I believe that we are on this earth for a reason. It's interesting to see the endless diversity this earth holds. Every single person born on this earth has a unique personality and a stream of thought as deep and vivid as your own. Each person learns and loves and lives in a different way. Each person is uniquely his or her own self. To me, this doesn't denote an accident. How could such brilliant minds, individual in depth and emotion, be formed by some universal accident? there must be a master creator, a master plan. None of us were there at the start of this earth, at least we don't remember it, so either God or a chemical accident require a bit of faith and belief on our part. Perhaps God and science work together. To me, though, the wonder of the earth, the perfect placement of our planet in the galaxy, the clockwork of seasons come and gone, the beauty of humanity denotes a God. And He made this all for us. God is our loving Heavenly Father with whom we lived, knew, and loved. This earth was made for us to learn and grow. We needed a place outside of our comfort zone in the presence of our Heavenly Father where we could learn to choose for ourselves to do good, so that we could become like our Heavenly Father. As always, though, learning is accompanied with mistakes. God didn't expect us to be perfect, so He gave us His perfect son, Jesus Christ. Like every good plan, there needed to be an exit strategy, and there is. Thanks to Jesus Christ, we can overcome sin, guilt, and death because He already suffered for our sins and hurt, and He died for us and was resurrected, so that we too could be resurrected and live with God again. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Atoner and the only personage in the universe who can raise us from the darkness of sin and death to the light of joy and life with our Heavenly Father.
