Hi I'm Alisha Van Houten

I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. I love to cook and spend time with family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have spent my entire life growing up in Boise, Idaho. I spend most of my free time watching cooking shows, playing video games, and spending time with my family. I love to sing as well as play piano and listen to all kinds of music. I am currently serving a full time in the Texas Houston East mission. I am enrolled to attend college at BYU-I after I return from my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending church with my parents and always knew that it was good. As I started high school, I started associating more with people who weren't LDS and my mind began to wander to other religious ideas and philosophies. Even though I was questioning my faith, I still continued to attend church meetings and my seminary class every day. It was through the small and simple things which I gained a testimony for myself. I knew I felt better the days that I read my scriptures and prayed versus when I didn't. I began to recognize that listening closely in church and seminary made me feel happy and gave me the desire to do good for others. Now I am ready to share this good news with others every day as a full time missionary.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by not only serving a mission but trying to grow closer to Jesus Christ every day. I love the time I have every day to study my scriptures and pray to my Heavenly Father to ask for help. My purpose as a missionary is to help others come closer to Christ and I try to do all I can to fulfill this purpose and live like the Savior.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Alisha Van Houten
As I read the scriptures daily, I am more prepared to face the challenges of every day life. My attitude changes and I find it easier to remember that I am not alone, the Savior is always with me and he can help me through any trials I may have. I come across verses that bring my heart great peace and seem to be speaking specifically to me about what I am going though at that time. Show more Show less
