Hi I'm Montele Adams

I'm a Navy brat born in San Diego California. I hope to serve my country as an Army officer when I graduate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert of 2 years, eldest of 6 and the only member in my family. I attend college at The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina on an Army scholarship with the aspiration of becoming an Army officer. I was raised Southern Baptist and really identify with the South as my home. I'm an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction novels such as Harry Potter and Warhammer 40k. I'm studying Criminal Justice at college and hope to become a Military Police officer when I commission. I was raised living in between both my parents. One school year I would be with my mother and the next I would spend with my father so never really had a home or any sort of connections until I got to high-school. I'm so glad that the missionaries decided to visit to my house and because of it I now have the opportunity to enjoy the gospel and prepare for a mission myself.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always had a knowledge of Jesus Christ and everything he's done for me, but it wasn't until I joined the church that I truly understood the importance of his atonement. I found the missionaries the beginning of my senior year of high school and throughout that academic year I grew in ways I never thought possible. I wrestled to find out what was true and where I needed to be, to me joining a new church was a large step and I certainly didn't have the support of my parents. However despite all that I knew from my interactions with the members of the church, the friends I made and the activities I attended that this was the true church. The spirit that I've felt and the lessons I've received had an undeniable ring of truth to them and it's a truth that I needed to have in my life. This is the true church, restored onto this earth by Joseph Smith. Everything that this church stands for and represents if good and upstanding morals meant to help us achieve the most out of our lives here on earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet in these latter days and that he is divinely inspired by our Heavenly Father. I have gained the ability to say these things with the utmost conviction through steadfast prayer, church attendance and scripture reading and I know you can too.

How I live my faith

I find it fairly difficult to be an active member in my branch at school because of the restrictions placed on the student body and the strict schedule we keep. Nonetheless I've served as a counselor within the church. As a counselor I make sure the individuals who have been assigned to teach have their talks prepared, I advise the president of my group on what's going on with the members, activities and attendance. I'm also blessed to be the home teacher for a group of individuals in the area. As a home teacher I visit them once a month to make sure they're doing alright, they have everything they need spiritually and physically and let them know that they have someone to go to if they need something.
