Hi I'm Avery

I am a pure bred New Englander, I make the best of things, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I am going to be serving a mission in about a month. I have five siblings, and three of us grew up playing soccer. I took a gap year before attending University, where I had the chance to play soccer and lacrosse. I am going to school to be an art therapist, so I will be double majoring in art and psychology. Working out is a hobby that typically takes up my time besides work, and I have had quite a few volunteer opportunities with Special Olympics.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I think the short and sweet answer to that question is that the church changed my life, and definitely for the better. I was inactive for a year before attending University, and unfortunately my family was not the most religious. I was getting into activities and hanging out with people that I should nat have been. There were things I did that made me hate myself. I felt angry and hateful all of the time, and I mainly took it out on my siblings and myself. This description of what happened is definitely a brief overview of what happened, but in short, I was becoming someone that I hated. After meeting a few select people at University who brought me back to the church, I really began to pay attention to how I had been blessed and protected whilst I was inactive. I was amazed. I was prompted to come back to church, and I had some very spiritual moments for my own testimony growth. I knew that God had been watching me and had let me make my mistakes, but he called me back. He knew I hated what I was doing, and that I was needed for a greater purpose. Now I am going to be telling my story to others that are in need of the love and understanding that only God can provide.

How I live my faith

At University I was put into a leadership position for our church, and I was presented with several opportunities to organize events, and to participate in community outreaching. I love looking to help the community in my own way, and on my on time.
