Hi I'm Heather

I have four brothers. I love chemistry, trail running, World War II history, and singing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love running and competed in a couple of triathlons for my first time this past year! Having grown up in Utah, I love hiking through the beautiful canyons found throughout the state. The past two years of college have been difficult but wonderful as I have studied for my major, chemical engineering, and my minor, Arabic language. I studied abroad and lived in Amman, Jordan for about 4 months and found joy in making friends with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and I know that it is true. I have prayed and felt certain that God is listening to me. I feel peace and strength from worshiping in the Temple and studying about my ancestors in order to connect myself to them in God's holy house. My life has been better in distinct ways because I have followed counsel given in church meetings including local meetings as well as General Conference. For example, attending these meetings influenced me to desire a closer relationship with God, and being reminded of Gospel truths each week has led me to read and study the scriptures as well as pray to my Father in Heaven every day. While reading the scriptures and praying I have discovered answers to questions I had about my self-worth and about Christ's concern for me. In turn, I have had the blessing of courage to face challenges such as experiencing difficulties within my field of study, the passing away of my dear grandfather, and finding moments of light and hope even while suffering from depression and hypothyroidism.

How I live my faith

I love taking care of my body by being physically active so that I am in good shape and have the health and energy to serve others when the opportunity arises. To me this is why keeping the Word of Wisdom is so important, and I know Heavenly Father has blessed me for trying to obey Him and honor the body He has given me.
