Hi I'm Marina

I grew up in CT, and just finished up my first year at BYU. I am currently serving a mission in Arcadia, California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid reader. I love reading dystopian novels and quirky fiction. Besides being a bookworm, I'm also a movie lover. I enjoy singing and harmonizing with my sister. I eat Gluten Free, and love it. I grew up on the East Coast but spent a few amazing years down in good ol' Texas. I just finished up my Freshmen Year at Brigham Young University where I was in an a capella group, went to almost every basketball game, and started my Special Education major. Go Cougars! This last summer I spent a month in Taiwan teaching English and travelling, because they are two of my passions.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon everyday. While I was raised in the church by a loving and supportive family, it definitely was my choice to become converted. I had to pray and read the scriptures, seek out answers, and immerse myself completely in the gospel. I realized that I knew it was true and that I wanted to live my life to reflect that knowledge. However, it is easy to lose the faith in such a distracting and ever-darkening world that celebrates things that bring sorrow. I choose joy :) I have to work hard everyday to keep that testimony, but I know it is worth all the sacrifice because the true happiness I feel and blessings I receive outweigh any doubts I have or once had.

How I live my faith

I am about to start serving a full time (18 months) mission in Arcadia, California! I am so pumped. I live my faith through my callings, through my service as a missionary, how I live my faith, and how I treat others. I try to put my all into my responsibilities in the church so that I can grow while also uplifting and benefiting others. I wanted to serve a mission so that I could spread the word on why this gospel makes me and my family so happy and at peace. I live my faith by sharing the word of God and following his commandments. I try my best to take advantage of His glorious atonement everyday. I want others to feel the same way I do about Jesus Christ. I try to serve and help others be happy because everyone deserves to have the blessings of the gospel in their lives.
