Hi I'm Marquita

I have been called to bear many trials and tribulations in my life and have still been able to find happiness. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to swing dance I am obsessed in researching my ancestors and finding out about the lives they have lived. I have kept a journal since I was 17 so my grandchildren will know how I have lived my life. I am now serving a 23 month mission for the Family and Church History Headquarters Mission. What a dream come true!

Why I am a Mormon

My aunt and uncle desired to find the church that had the gospel that they had found in the Bible. They were seeking a church that had a prophet of God that spoke to and for Him. They wanted a baptism for a remission of their sins followed by the laying on of hands to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.. They were looking for a church that did not have paid clergy. They wanted a church to pay their tithing to the Lord. They attended many churches. One day when they had left one church to search for another a group of people gathered to throw rotten fruit at them. My uncle came home from visiting one of these many churches and was impressed to go into the woods and pray for guidance. He prayed, "Please Father, we are seeking thy true church, please help us find it." As he went down the hill he saw a car pulling up to his house. They introduced themselves as missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! They were baptized and within two years all but one of the nine siblings joined the Church. Then at the age of 83 and 73 their parents went down into the waters of baptism as well. This family then went to the Temple to be married and sealed as a family for time and all eternity. The youngest of this family was my mother, one of the nine children. I was born into this eternal union. As a teenager, I wanted to find out for myself if Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God. I wanted to know for myself if he restored the gospel of Jesus Christ in this last dispensation. I have had so many witnesses of the Holy Ghost that have been born to me, I too gained a testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel. It has brought to me redemption through the grace and atonement of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I love serving and honoring Him in all that I do.

How I live my faith

In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have had such great opportunities to learn and grow as a child, a teenager, a young adult and now as a woman. First learning about the scriptures through family scripture study, then at church starting when I was three years old. Learning about how God created the heavens and the earth and all things that are in them. I then learned self worth and confidence as a teenager hearing that I was a daughter of God and that he loved me and wanted me to love Him by keeping his commandments and by living a chaste and pure life. As a new mother I was able to meet with other young mothers and we learned through the study of the scriptures to teach our children to love one another by serving one another. Now as an empty nester and a widow I have learned that through many trials and tribulations that my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ are real. I was able to fine real happiness by applying the principles of the gospel. Faith, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. My faith has grown to bear much fruit and I know that they are with me every day helping me to live so that I may live once again with them for the rest of eternity. I learned that I want to be just like them. I learned they want me to be just like them. I learned in my family research we truly are all related. We are spiritual sons and daughters of a Heavenly King!

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Marquita
Because I am a widow I have a death benefit, then my mother pays some from her social security then my ward Bishop has a missionary fund that he can pull from in an emergency. I am a senior missionary. We pay rent utilities internet insurance for the car and health insurance parking etc the whole kit and caboodle lol. I was in debt, so that had to all be paid off as well. It is a wonderful feeling to give your all to sacrifice to serve God through serving others! Show more Show less
