Hi I'm Jessie Barton

I grew up in Southern Utah as a farm girl. I am a wife, mother, grandmother and a retired school teacher.

About Me

I am a wife, mother of 5 sons, and grandmother of 4 grandsons and 8 granddaughters. I grew up in a large family with 6 brothers and 1 sister. I was the oldest, so I learned to help do many tasks that prepared me to be a wife and mother. I graduated from college with a teaching degree, but was a stay home mom until my youngest son went to kindergarten. I taught for 23 years before I retired. I enjoy baking, sewing, crocheting, and reading young adult fiction. My teenage grandchildren make recommendations to me as they read books they enjoy. I enjoy doing family history work such as indexing and family records research.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a home with extended family living around me that were all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though I had great examples of strong testimonies in my life, I have experienced the joy of finding out for myself the truthfulness of the gospel and living the teaches that help me to be happy. Through making mistakes and learning about repentance, I know that my Savior lives and that He loves me. I feel his tender mercies in my life. I especially enjoy worshiping through music both listening and participating. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I volunteer with my husband in the school as a reading tutor and we have been cub scout den leaders for three and a half years. We are ordinance workers in the LDS temple. I help wherever and whenever needed as a substitute in youth classes in our church.
