Hi I'm Ben

I've recently been called to serve in the France-Paris mission & I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love everything outdoors - This summer I spent 5 days backpacking the "Under the Rim" trail in Bryce Canyon, Utah and caught my first Kokanee Salmon in the Strawberry Reservoir. I'm the oldest son in a family of girls and I'm pretty sure I am my dog's favorite. I'm a history buff and am excited to serve in France, where so much history has taken place.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the LDS church, but as I've grown up and learned for myself, I've come to trust in my Savior and in His Atonement and that gives me hope and joy. As a child, I had a period where I had awful nightmares for several nights in a row. I couldn't sleep for fear that I'd have the scary dreams again. While trying to comfort me one night, my mom encouraged me to pray to Heavenly Father specifically that He would watch over me and I could sleep. She and I knelt down in my room and I said a prayer. As soon as I said "Amen", both my mom and I felt the most wonderful feeling. It was as though we had both been wrapped in a warm blanket. We both felt the love of our Heavenly Father and knew that the peace we were feeling came from Him. I knew from that moment that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers - that we can turn to Him at any time and in any place and He will be there for us. I have had many other experiences in my life that have tested this, and He has always been there. It may not be as immediate as it was that day, it may not be the same answer, but Heavenly Father always is there to strengthen and help me and He always answers prayers.

How I live my faith

I find that fulfilling my duties as a priesthood holder brings me the most joy in my life. Recently, I've had the opportunity to take the sacrament to some widows in our area who can't attend our church services. I've loved getting to know them and being able to share the love of the gospel with them each week when we visit. Hearing their testimonies and love for the Savior, Jesus Christ has strengthened me.
