Hi I'm Chelsea Marena Tuala

I grew up in Brisbane, Australia but am currently living in New Zealand. I am currently on my Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

In my family, I am the eldest of four and I am also the only girl in my family. My siblings and I are so lucky to have been brought up in the gospel by our loving parents. I am currently on my mission serving in the Phillippines. I have a passion for dancing and ever since I was little I started performing traditional island performances and over the years I have grown to love it. I also love sports and am a big fan of netball and rugby league.

Why I am a Mormon

My cousin and I on a Wednesday attended institute for the first time and the first lesson that was being taught was about missionary work. And literally in my head I was like "Oh great, not this again". And so as the lesson continued the teacher was going around asking students "What are some things that are stopping you YSA (Young Single Adults) from serving a mission?" and she then pointed at me, she asked me," Sister do you have a desire to serve a mission?" and I replied honestly and quietly saying "No". She then asked me,"May I ask why?" and of course I felt rude if I said no so I said yes". I said to her I wouldn't go because of my family. My mum shes a full-time carer for my Grandpa who is incredibly ill, so she does not work. I have 3 younger brothers who are all still in school and here I am trying to help my dad work to provide for our family with the things that we need for my brothers schooling, my grandpas illness and the necessities needed at home. She took my hand and held it and said to me,"My dearest sister, do you think you can take better care of your family than heavenly father can?" And that literally hit me, I knew that Heavenly Father was a man of love and care and I thought to myself like I cannot compare to what the lord can do for my family. And so that day I changed my perspective of life and importantly missionary work. I know that without a shadow of a doubt that our Heavenly Father loves us, he knows us and with whatever we are facing at this time that it is temporal. I know that without this gospel I would not be here today preparing to serve a full-time missionary. I know that it is only through the atonement of Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven of our sins and return back to him. I know that this gospel is the true gospel upon the face of this earth. I want you all to know that I love you and I know that Heavenly Father loves you as well. You are never alone, and these things I leave with you in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is through my callings at church. My calling in my ward is the Primary Secretary and in my calling I have the privilege in helping teach and organize fun events for young children ranging from the ages of 18 months to 12 years old. I love to get involved with the kids in helping them understand the gospel as well as organizing events that keep them happy and active in the church.
