Hi I'm Quentin Strickland

I grew up in Northern and Southern California. My mission is the Tegucigalpa,Honduras mission. I love people. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been blessed to grow up in California and have had the opportunity to be around many regions of California as well. Some of my hobbies include skateboarding, breaking my comfort zone, creating art, creating music, expounding and working at new talents, and always working to gain a stronger knowledge of this world we live in and the spiritual world in which we use to live in and will again in the future. I graduated high school and am now preparing to serve my mission in Honduras for two years which I am really excited for and it almost feels unreal. I have one sister and two brothers and a mom and dad as well as a pet tortoise all in the same house. I am the oldest of all my siblings. Family is a very important key in our lives however I feel as if a lot of people don't recognize it. I have worked at Chic-fil-A for two years now all together and I used to be an umpire for minor league baseball games too. I am absolutely grateful for the opportunities in which I receive in life wether it be the family that I have or the occupation I receive because you can always bring light out of it. I absolutely love THE Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I will always know in my heart the truth that the church brings to this world even if I am going through times of doubt. My life has been filled with my important things that has made me who I am today. I have learned so much through others and even myself in life and I wouldn't want any other life in this world.

Why I am a Mormon

I myself was born in this church. I may have not been the best Mormon around in my youth but I always did know that this church was the only true church. Yet I really didn't have my eyes opened to the church until my senior year of high school. I had just moved to southern California from northern California and I disliked it. However now when I look back on it, it was one of the best things that could ever happen to me. When I arrived in southern California my senior year, age 17, I mainly just went along with the church without really working for a strong testimony with not much faith however I was dedicated. Yet moving into a new ward with greater people around me totally put me into a spiritual growth spurt. I was like a mustard seed which are very small, however I started actively praying more with purpose and actually reading, studying, and pondering my scriptures and I grew into something greater. The amazing feeling of obtaining more knowledge and feeling the spirit is why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I realize that we are all here for a purpose. We are all here to be tested so that when that judgement day comes we will be ready to stand before God and be ready to discuss where we should be due to what we have worked for. Personally I have studied and found out about many different churches and their beliefs and the structure and organization of this church, my church, just rings truth to me through the spirit. Yes some of our ordinances and beliefs may be different however if you study them more and learn more about them with a soft heart and sincerely pray and ask about them you will get your answer. I'd love to bear my testimony and say if I didn't move and had my eyes reopened to the church I am not sure where I would be today. However I wouldn't dare trade it for where I am now and the testimony I have worked for of this church. The church is absolutely true and in the end you are left with joy by doing so much good and it is absolutely worth it.

How I live my faith

Everyday I make sure to remember my lord and savior Jesus Christ whenever I can. I started a daily regime for myself which keeps the right amount of the church in my life which include tasks such as scripture study, prayer, and reading certain books. In church I have always been called upon to be a leader amongst my peers no matter where I move and some people would look at a leadership role and frown upon it, however I personally enjoy being able to be an example and teach those around me and that is one of the things you can see me ask for in my personal prayers. To prepare for my mission, every Sunday I got out with my wards' awesome missionaries and we basically go around teaching people and visiting people as well. One thing Mormons are know for and it can be pretty funny is that Mormons are always ready to help someone move. This is very true and the church is full of service and charity just like Jesus Christ and being charitable brings us closer to him as well as service teaches us to be more like him. Living a faithful life takes a lot of hard work and effort and not only that but trust. To live a life full of faith you must truly believe in what you know to be true and be ready to stand up for it. I would be lying if I said it was easy and I would be lying if I didn't have to be the one that dares to stand out from those around me. However as hard as it may seem, in the end I can bear testimony that the number of blessings in my life that I have seen from being faithful are absolutely infinite. I always act like someone is watching me and I would want them to have a positive view upon me no matter what I am doing. If you were to ask me, "Hey Quentin, how do you live your faith?" I would answer like this,"Well first of all you need to understand what you are having faith in because your faith will be tried and there will be times where you question it. Living your faith takes courage and strength and to be able to do that you need to exercise it everyday."
