Hi I'm Rachel

I'm wife to a wonderful man and mom of 2 boys. I love wide open fields, mountain forests, good food, and learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My real hobby is learning. I love to learn. My list of things I want to know about or know how to do is always growing. Right now I am learning how to be a good mom to my 2 little boys and a good wife to my amazing husband. This is a lot of work and many days I feel like I fail miserably. Other days are not so bad and I am so excited when things go right. Amidst mothering, I am learning to bottle my own food, become a better cook and a better baker. I'm learning to code and design websites and apps. I've taught myself how to crochet and I'm slowly getting better. Decorating and being super organized are not my strong points, but I'm learning. The saying goes that it takes a village to raise a child. I believe it takes a village to nurture a family too so I rely on many people to support my family's village.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this Church but I chose to be baptized and continue being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I love the blessings that come from living the gospel. Since I have been married, especially, there have been many decisions, setbacks, and trials that have come into my life. Without the knowledge, the peace, and the strength the gospel brings I really feel like I would be lost. Many people see our church and think it is too restrictive but I however see the freedom that comes from obeying the teachings of God. I want to have my family with me forever - I want to see them and be with them after I die and move on. I can have that when I live how Heavenly Father wants us to live. I love being a Mormon and having the strength that the church gives me and the gospel gives me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every single day. It too is a learning process but I try every day to do things that bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and to my Savior Jesus Christ. When I get up in the morning, I pray and read my scriptures. During the day I take opportunities to teach my little boys about important people in our church and in the scriptures. As often as we can, my husband and I attend the temple where we do work for our Heavenly Father and our ancestors. This is a beautiful place where special ordinances are performed that bring us closer to our Heavenly Father. One of the most important is that families are sealed together forever. This means that my little family will get to be together forever, even after we are dead as long as we are living the commandments and keeping the covenants we make in the temple. In my local ward, I teach Gospel Doctrine. This is a Sunday School class for the adult members of the ward. We discuss a section of scripture and apply it to our own lives today. This can be a daunting task but I thoroughly enjoy expanding my knowledge of our doctrines and scriptures and then sharing that information with members of my ward. I get pretty nervous to teach but the Holy Ghost always helps me to say exactly what the class needs to hear. My little boy gets to attend Primary where he also learns about Jesus Christ and how to be a good member of the church. He loves to attend a class with other little children his age and sing songs about the gospel. As parents, we strive to keep our home happy and maintain an environment where the Holy Ghost will be there with us. When we do this, our children are more behaved and we are happy to be together.
