Hi I'm Teirsa

Lover of music. Outdoors and travel enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and have always had a deep love for traveling. I find a little bit of myself in every city I visit! I was raised on rock n' roll, crisp mountain air, and sandy toes. I have a huge family that is constantly growing with every new person I meet. I will be serving in the Alabama Birmingham mission for the next 18 months, and can't wait to share the love of our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ with the people of the South.

Why I am a Mormon

If you'd asked me at the age of 21 what I'd be doing three years down the road, serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints would NOT have been the answer! Things like touring Scotland and Ireland with one of my favorite bands, or traveling with friends to pursue photography would have come to mind. Though I was baptized when I was 8, a true understanding of the Gospel didn't come until much later. I never identified well with religious culture. Like most of us, I experienced some trials and heartache in my early twenties, which led me down darker paths than I would have imagined for myself. I spent about three years staying as numb as possible. I lost all sense of who I was and why I existed. Sensing that I was in need of help, my family invited me to move back home, and offered a safe refuge while I sorted through the wreckage left from years of self destruction. At 23 I wasn't sure what I believed in! I'd researched and found many wonderful truths along the way, but nothing seemed to satisfy the yearnings in my heart, for which there aren't words. This world is FULL of different ideas and opinions, doctrines and beliefs. The only thing I knew for sure was that each of us contains light and the ability to discern. An undeniable and powerful need to know for myself what was true began to grow until it was more important than any fear of what those around me thought. Year 24 had some surprises in store! One night I was down in my room willing the universe to send me peace, when my brother came and told me there were two missionaries at the door asking for me by name. I will not try to tell you that everything was easy from there on out.. it got harder in many ways for a while. But when peace and light did finally come, it was more full than I'd ever imagined it could be. It came in ways that were so deeply personal and unique to me that my soul recognized the source. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with the most incredible friends and family, with a wide range of lifestyles and backgrounds. My own path has not been the most straight and narrow, but rather has been filled with plenty of dips and valleys, detours and mountains to climb. Because I now know of the freedom and peace that comes from being a recipient of our Savior's loving Atonement, I am not afraid to live as he has asked us to. My calling is to love without judgement. I am prepared to do all I can to keep myself a worthy vessel of the love and light of Christ, that other's may come to know him as I have.
