Hi I'm Elder Willits

I am serving in the Oregon Eugene Mission. I love socializing, outdoor activities, running, and the gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am graduated from high school and will be attending college after my mission. Following generals, I will go into medical school to become a surgeon (not sure what specific type yet.) I love the outdoors; hiking, camping, running, sports, just being out in nature. I ran cross country and track in high school and aspire to do the same in college.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know Heavenly Father personally, and I know He loves me, and I express my love to Him by following the teachings of the gospel in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Being a member of this church and enjoying all its teachings, practices, and saving ordinances greatly bless my life, and I know without a shadow of doubt that they are all true. This church was founded by God by modern-day prophets for everyone in the world to join. All can become members and delight in the joy found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have lived my faith most through personal study, seminary, and preparing to become a missionary. Studying the scriptures has brought such an increase to my faith in the gospel. Attending seminary in high school taught me how to better study on my own in the scriptures, and I learned great teachings from the scriptures there. In preparing for my mission I have taken on great spiritual growths, like praying more earnestly, studying more rigorously, and being more enthusiastic about the gospel.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Elder Willits
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the center of His gospel. Christ atoned, or suffered, in the garden of Gethsemane for our sins, pains, shortcomings, and all difficulties. He knows exactly how we feel whenever we suffer, so He can help us perfectly. Following the suffering in Gethsemane, Jesus Christ was taken, punished, and crucified on false charges. But after three days, He arose from the dead as a resurrected, or perfect, being. He overcame death, and because He did we all will be resurrected. It is impossible to grasp all the Atonement does, but I know because of Jesus Christ I can always repent, change, and come back to the path my Heavenly Father wants me to follow, no matter how short I fall. And I know because of the Atonement that death is not the end. I will be resurrected, as will all of us! We can overcome all difficulties through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
