Hi I'm Parker

I went to a performing arts high school and am inspired by music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing hymns and other praiseworthy songs. I'm always open to listening to beautiful music. I sang in the top choir at Tuacahn high school and have founded a deeper love for music through those experiences. I am currently planning on serving a mission. Then I plan to go to college and earn a proper education and eventually graduate. My next step would be to find a spouse whom I can spend the rest of my life with.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember many people coming up to me in my freshmen year of high school and asking me one simple question, "How are you happy?" Well, as it turns out, I had no clue. I was baffled by the question for months, but as I went to church week after week it finally clicked. The answer was as simple as the question, the gospel. As I grew older, I learned to use the gospel as a positive influence on other's lives. I had a friend who worked at a local grocery store who I would talk to whenever I got the chance. He was super friendly and had started to ask what church I went to. Our weekly conversations had turned into lessons and he was starting to understand. He had never felt the comfort of Heavenly Father's love, or the joy of repentance; and once he did, his life started to change. His life has changed because of his willing heart and sweet spirit. He has repeatedly thanked me ever since his conversion, and I am so thankful that I could share the happiness I feel from the gospel with my friend.

How I live my faith

There are many ways I participate in my church. For example, I bring the sacrament to those who are physically unable to partake of the sacrament at church. The blessings from taking this responsibility has taught me how I should always be aware of the needs of others. In my ward, there are service projects created throughout the year. It's fun to gather up my family and help others without physical reward. It creates a special environment in which my family can bond and spiritually connect with one another.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Parker
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the most essential event in the history of the world. It allows us to reach the highest degree of heaven and be able to live in Heavenly Father's presence. The Atonement includes the Savior's crucifixion and His suffering in Gethsemane. Jesus Christ suffered for all the sins of mankind living and dead. This is crucial for the salvation of all mankind. The Atonement allows for all of us to be saved through Jesus Christ. Since He suffered all of our sins, we are able to return to live with Heavenly Father again. When we commit sin we experience pain, sorrow, guilt and shame. The Atonement allows Jesus Christ to experience all of our sorrows. Jesus knows what we're going through and through Him we can be forgiven of our sins. To truly know that the Atonement is real, we must first have faith in Christ, repent of our sins, be baptized and confirmed by someone holding the Priesthood authority of God, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, obey God's commandments, receive sacred ordinances, and continually strive to become like Him. If we do these things, we will be able to live with Heavenly Father in heaven and have eternal salvation. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Parker
The Book of Mormon is an additional witness of Jesus Christ. It testifies simply that he is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of the world. The Book of Mormon starts with a prophet named Lehi, who lived in Jerusalem. He was instructed by God to take a group of people to the American continent. God continued to speak with Lehi and his posterity. Lehi was told many things, especially about the birth, suffering, and death of the Savior. Just like prophets in the Old Testament testified of His coming, so did the prophets in the Americas. After Christ was ressurcted, He appeared and taught His gospel to the people in the Americas. All of the writings were quoted and abridged by a prophet-historian named Mormon. The last prophet to have the records buried them and wrote a promise to all who read and pray to know if it is true. The Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the everlasting gospel, outlines God's plan, and tells men what they should do to gain peace in this life and eternity in the next. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Parker
The purpose of life is a question asked by many and answered by few. I learned the answer to this question when I started learning about God's plan. God has a divine purpose for all his children. That purpose is stated by the Savior many times in the New Testament. We are to become like Christ, but there is much more to it. We were sent to Earth to gain a physical body. Without one, we could not learn and grow so much. Trials and afflictions in this life are meant to happen because they give us experience. God has also given us the ability to choose between right and wrong. By making our own choices, God is allowing us to learn for ourselves. He wants us to be able to receive happiness in this life and in the eternities to come. This life is the time for men and women to prepare to meet God. When we come to know for a surety that this is true, we make a daily effort to make the right choices. To read our scriptures, pray often, and attend church. This life is not for kicks and giggles, it is a one time opportunity for us to gain experience and become like our Father in heaven. Show more Show less
